Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025) concluded on a historic high, redefining what a regional mobility event can achieve. Drawing a record-breaking 294,062 visitors and generating RM1.72 billion in potential sales, MAS 2025 proved itself not just as a consumer showcase—but a strategic driver of Malaysia’s leadership in next-generation mobility.

Held from May 9 to May 15 at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), this year’s show embraced the theme “Shifting the Future” and did just that. Organised by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics, and IoT Institute (MARii) with support from the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), the event featured over 200 exhibitors and more than 500 vehicles across 50,000 square metres. The extended seven-day format allowed more Malaysians to experience the future of mobility, contributing to a 31% increase in attendance compared to 2024.

Among the highlights were 48 vehicle launches and previews, and 10,916 test drives. Notably, 51% of the models displayed were electrified—spanning EVs, PHEVs, and HEVs—signaling the accelerating shift to greener transportation. Reinforcing this was the launch of the Voluntary NxGV Labelling Scheme, a pioneering certification program for vehicles that meet Malaysia’s stringent standards for sustainability, safety, and innovation.

A defining moment came with the ASEAN Unity Drive 2025—a bold 10,432-kilometre EV convoy across nine ASEAN countries featuring Proton’s e.MAS 7 and X Series models. Officially recognised by the ASEAN Records, this milestone showcased the viability of long-distance, cross-border EV travel and promoted the harmonisation of regional EV standards, underscoring ASEAN’s readiness for an integrated e-mobility ecosystem.

MAS 2025 also delivered on its promise to engage and educate. With themed days such as Education Day, Women’s Day, and Green Day, the show provided interactive learning experiences for students, families, and professionals. Cutting-edge exhibits, including Urban Air Mobility demonstrations and the unveiling of ADaPTIV—an AI-driven predictive vehicle performance system developed by MARii and PETRONAS—highlighted the innovations driving the mobility industry forward.

At the closing ceremony, MARii Chairman Datuk Dr. Aminar Rashid credited the event’s success to strong collaboration with major industry players like Proton, Perodua, Honda, Modenas, Chery, and ORS Technologies. MARii CEO Azrul Reza Aziz emphasized the broader mission of MAS 2025: “This was about building bridges between innovation, public engagement, and industry transformation.”

Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Abdul Aziz, underlined the strategic importance of the event in positioning Malaysia as a regional hub for clean and advanced vehicle technologies. “As Chair of ASEAN this year, Malaysia is uniquely positioned to lead the regional EV agenda,” he said, adding that the event directly supports Malaysia’s efforts to establish ASEAN-wide EV guidelines and strengthen the mobility supply chain.

Looking ahead, the Malaysia Autoshow is set to return in 2027, potentially at a new venue designed to further elevate the visitor and exhibitor experience. As Southeast Asia continues its transition toward clean, connected, and intelligent transport, MAS is poised to remain the premier platform for catalyzing innovation, investment, and collaboration across the region’s mobility landscape.
