GAC Motor and AION made an electrifying impact at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025, unveiling a dynamic lineup that signals a new era for mobility in the country. With the spotlight on innovation, performance, and sustainability, the brands presented a clear vision for the future—one driven by advanced technology and a deep understanding of evolving consumer needs.

The centerpiece of the showcase was the long-awaited debut of the GAC M8, Malaysia’s first flagship Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) MPV. Officially open for booking, the M8 brings a powerful combination of premium comfort and eco-conscious engineering. Capable of achieving a combined range of up to 1,038 kilometres, this luxurious MPV is built to handle both city traffic and long-haul journeys with ease.

Safety and sophistication go hand in hand with this model, featuring GAC’s patented 360° full-surround airbag system, including the world’s first rear windscreen airbag. Complemented by intelligent driver assistance features and a refined, wellness-focused interior, the M8 PHEV sets a new standard in family and executive transport.

Priced from RM333,000, the M8 comes with a 5-year/150,000 km warranty, plus an 8-year/150,000 km coverage for key electric components. Early customers also benefit from two years of free scheduled maintenance and a portable charging cable—sweetening the deal with added convenience and value.

Also turning heads was the HYPTEC HT, showcased in both its futuristic gull-wing and traditional configurations. Already a regional sensation, the HT is on track for a Q3 Malaysian launch. Built with next-generation magazine battery technology for superior thermal safety and structure, this EV boasts a range of up to 620 km (NEDC) and ultra-fast DC charging capability of up to 280kW. With its commanding design and cutting-edge performance, the HT redefines what premium electric mobility can look like.

Joining the fray was the AION V electric SUV, making its Malaysian debut after international acclaim in Paris. Sporting a bold design inspired by the Tyrannosaurus Rex, the AION V combines aggression and elegance with practicality. Powered by a 100kW motor generating 240Nm of torque, it accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in just 7.9 seconds. With a range of up to 602 km on a single charge, this SUV is ready to tackle Malaysia’s urban and rural roads alike.

Marking one year on Malaysian roads, the GS3 EMZOOM received a celebratory push through the brand’s newly launched “Anniversary Mega Offer.” Under the theme “More Style, More Power, More Thrill,” customers can now drive home the award-winning crossover with instalments starting from RM990 per month. Even better, this deal stacks with the ongoing “Drive Home A GAC, Win More Rewards” campaign, offering prizes worth over RM600,000.

WTCA’s powerful showcase at the Autoshow is more than a product launch—it’s a statement of intent. With electrified and hybrid models that emphasize performance, sustainability, and intelligent design, GAC Motor and AION are aligning closely with Malaysia’s ambitions for cleaner, future-ready transportation. As more localized models and innovations are set to roll out, the brands are clearly positioning themselves as key players in shaping the nation’s automotive future.
