Malaysian motorsport once again took center stage as Viper Niza Racing stormed to a hard-fought podium finish at the prestigious Michelin 12 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, held on April 19–20 in Belgium. Drivers Douglas Khoo, Dominic Ang, and Melvin Moh brought their A-game to one of the world’s most iconic endurance circuits, earning an impressive 6th overall, 4th in the GT3 class, and 2nd in the GT3 AM category out of a 37-car international field.
The legendary 7.004 km Spa circuit, with its fast straights and 19 challenging turns, lived up to its reputation as a battleground for both driver skill and mechanical endurance. Despite clear weather on race day, the event proved relentless. It began under a Code 60—enforcing a full-course speed limit of 60 km/h—after a first-lap incident and concluded similarly due to a collision just minutes before the chequered flag.
Throughout the grueling 12 hours, the Viper Niza Racing Team remained composed and consistent, clocking 261 laps in their Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo. “Spa-Francorchamps has been good to us,” said lead driver and team principal Douglas Khoo. “We ran a solid race, stayed focused, and despite having our fair share of scares on track, did our best to steer clear of trouble. Credit must also go to the team who prepared a strong and trouble-free car.”
The endurance race was a true test of resilience and adaptability, especially as GT3 teams contended with a variety of mechanical issues and on-track incidents. The Viper Niza squad faced off against formidable rivals, including machines from Lamborghini, Audi, Aston Martin, and Ferrari, yet held their ground to emerge as one of the top privateer entries.
This latest success at Spa marks Viper Niza Racing’s second podium in as many appearances at the Belgian circuit. In 2019, the trio clinched a PRO/AM class victory at the inaugural TCR SPA500, piloting a Seat Cupra TCR DSG in what was their debut at Spa.
Their 2025 campaign has already been productive, having taken a class victory at the Motul 12 Hours of Sepang earlier in March, along with a second-place finish in the GT AM class—further underlining their growing prowess in international endurance racing.
Up next, Viper Niza Racing will head to Italy for the Michelin 12 Hours of Misano, scheduled for May 23–24. The team continues its charge backed by sponsors including Motul, Endless & Momentum Autoparts, IWC (Official Watch Brand), and Jen Orchard Gateway Hotel Singapore.
As they look ahead, the trio and their team carry not just momentum, but the confidence that they belong among the best in the endurance racing world.
