It’s official—Malaysia has crowned its EV champion for the third month in a row. Since its debut in January 2025, the Proton e.MAS 7 has held onto the top spot as the nation’s best-selling electric vehicle, a title backed by over 5,500 bookings and more than 1,800 units delivered to date. More than a bestseller, the e.MAS 7 has become a symbol of national pride and progress.

From its inception, this electric SUV has resonated with Malaysians for all the right reasons: a smart blend of practical design, forward-thinking technology, and undeniable value. With the backing of national automaker PROTON and its EV-focused subsidiary PRO-NET, the e.MAS 7 is more than just a vehicle—it’s the flagbearer of a new automotive era.

Developed using global EV know-how and fine-tuned for Malaysian roads, the e.MAS 7 delivers both performance and resilience. Its 160kW motor pumps out 320Nm of torque, launching from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds, while its 175 km/h top speed ensures confident highway cruising.

Durability is a key highlight. The SUV’s 12-in-1 drive unit has been battle-tested over 100,000 km on Malaysian roads, while its advanced AEGIS Short Blade battery supports ultra-fast charging—up to 80% in 20 minutes, or 135 km of range in just a 10-minute top-up. Even after 921 charge cycles, the battery retains 90.5% health—an impressive figure that equates to around 400,000 km of real-world usage.

Interior space is where the e.MAS 7 truly shines. Thanks to a 2,750mm wheelbase and flat cabin floor, it offers generous legroom and comfort for all passengers. The SUV is equipped with ventilated, fully-reclinable front seats, two-step reclining rear seats, and 33 cleverly designed storage solutions—including a 14L hidden underseat compartment.

Fold the rear seats and you unlock a cavernous 1,888L of boot space, with an additional 51L underfloor compartment. Premium touches such as 256-colour ambient lighting and a 1,000W 16-speaker Flyme audio system (complete with headrest speakers and WANOS surround sound) provide a driving experience that rivals premium European models.

At the heart of the e.MAS 7 is a tech-forward cockpit, led by a stunning 15.4” 2.5K touchscreen and a 10.2” digital instrument cluster. The Flyme Auto OS ensures smooth, intuitive operation, while a Head-Up Display keeps essential driving info in your line of sight.

Seamless connectivity is just a tap away with the Proton e.MAS App, giving users real-time access to over 2,300 charging stations nationwide—including 75 DC fast-chargers across Proton dealerships. From navigation to payments, the app makes charging effortless.

With a full 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating and a score of 92.57 points, the e.MAS 7 leads its class in both adult and child occupant protection. Safety features include six airbags, Adaptive Cruise Control, a 360° camera, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

It’s also built to withstand Malaysia’s toughest challenges. The battery passed Proton’s “6-Devil” test, enduring fire, flood, and even crash simulations. A Crash Safety Power-Off System adds another layer of protection, while a water-wading capability of 400mm means the e.MAS 7 is ready for anything—from urban flash floods to rural kampung trails.

Starting at just RM105,800 for the Prime variant and RM119,800 for the Premium, the e.MAS 7 is redefining what Malaysians can expect from an electric vehicle. Available at 31 Proton e.MAS outlets—with more to come—the SUV is bringing electrification to every corner of the country.

As Proton CEO Mr. Zhang Qiang puts it, “The e.MAS 7’s success shows what’s possible when we combine global EV expertise with deep local insight.” Indeed, this is only the beginning of Proton’s electric journey—a journey that’s charging forward, proudly made in Malaysia.
