Porsche Malaysia and the Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM) have joined forces to champion road safety education with their nationwide initiative, “Students Today. Drivers Tomorrow.” This ambitious campaign is aimed at instilling safe driving habits in young Malaysians, ensuring that the next generation of drivers prioritizes responsibility on the road.
With over 1,600 participants between the ages of 7 to 17 already engaged, the program emphasizes the critical importance of road safety at an early age. Given Malaysia’s concerning accident rates—over 530,000 annually due to poor driving habits—this initiative is both timely and necessary. The effects of road accidents extend beyond individual victims, impacting families and communities. By incorporating road safety education into schools, Porsche Malaysia and MAM hope to create a long-term cultural shift toward more responsible driving behaviors.
Christopher Hunter, Chief Executive Officer of Auto Performance, highlighted the importance of the initiative, stating, “Motorsports is deeply embedded in our DNA, but beyond performance and passion, road safety remains a fundamental aspect of driving. We’re proud to be partnering with the Motorsports Association of Malaysia to educate the drivers of tomorrow on the importance of road safety.”
Tan Sri Mokhzani Tun Mahathir, President of MAM, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that education is the first step in fostering safer roads. “By teaching students about road safety at an early age, we can instill lifelong habits that will ensure safer roads for everyone. We look forward to seeing how this partnership will not only impact the students but also inspire a broader community movement towards safer driving practices.”
As part of this collaboration, Porsche Malaysia and MAM will embark on a nationwide roadshow, visiting schools to provide hands-on road safety education. The program includes engaging road safety talks by motorsports instructors, interactive quizzes to test students’ knowledge, and a unique opportunity to experience driving simulations through state-of-the-art simulators. These simulators offer students a practical understanding of road safety, allowing them to apply what they have learned in a controlled environment.
By equipping students with crucial road safety knowledge early on, “Students Today. Drivers Tomorrow.” aims to create a ripple effect—encouraging young drivers to influence their families and communities toward safer driving habits. With continued efforts from Porsche Malaysia and MAM, Malaysia’s roads can become safer for all, one student at a time.
