MG Motor Malaysia has taken a bold step into the electric future with an exclusive preview of its all-new MGS5 EV, a next-generation B-segment electric SUV that’s poised to redefine value and performance in its class. With an estimated starting price from RM115,000, the MGS5 EV blends cutting-edge technology, sleek design, and best-in-class driving dynamics, offering a compelling option for eco-conscious drivers seeking a premium yet accessible EV experience.
“The MGS5 EV is the very first model we are introducing as part of a fresh new chapter for MG in Malaysia,” said Emory Qifeng, Managing Director of SAIC Motor Malaysia. “It sets the standard for what drivers can expect from our brand, with best-in-class driving dynamics for this segment.”
After its global debut in China last October, the MGS5 EV now arrives tailored for Malaysian roads, aiming to make electric mobility more appealing and practical for a broader audience.
The MGS5 EV is available in two powertrain configurations. The base model features a 49kWh battery paired with a 125kW motor, offering 170PS, 250Nm torque, and up to 340km of range (WLTP). For those needing more range and power, the 62.2kWh version delivers up to 430km and supports 150kW DC fast charging, getting you back on the road faster.
Both variants offer engaging rear-wheel drive (RWD) handling, setting the benchmark for driving enjoyment in this segment.
No matter the variant, the MGS5 EV comes generously equipped with modern conveniences and safety technologies. Standard features include 6.6kW AC charging, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) support, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.8-inch central control screen with voice control, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Safety is top-tier with 7 airbags and a full Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite.
Opting for the more premium variant brings even more luxury touches, including 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, and heated leather steering wheel. Comfort upgrades include leather-fabric combination seats, power-adjustable driver’s seat, premium 6-speaker audio, rear reading lamps, rain-sensing wipers, and a 360-degree surround view camera.
The MGS5 EV is available in five sophisticated colours: Arctic White, Monument Silver, Camden Grey, Dynamic Red, and Elegant Latte—each complemented by a dark interior with a premium leather-fabric seat combination.
