In a year marked by rising diesel costs and changing consumer expectations, the Isuzu D-Max has defied market trends to carve out its place as Malaysia’s second-best-selling pick-up truck in 2025. Renowned for its superior fuel economy, clockwork reliability, and robust design, the award-winning D-Max continues to win over Malaysians from all walks of life.
Driven by increasing demand for dependable, work-ready trucks, Isuzu’s market share soared to a record-breaking 18.3% in the first quarter of 2025—up significantly from 14.0% during the same period last year. This impressive leap not only confirms the D-Max’s growing appeal but also marks the brand’s highest share in Malaysia’s competitive pick-up segment to date.
“More buyers are realizing the unmatched value the D-Max offers,” said Kenkichi Sogo, Chief Operating Officer of Isuzu Malaysia. “It’s not just about having a tough and capable truck. It’s about owning a vehicle that brings peace of mind through low running costs, minimal road tax, and rock-solid reliability—essentials in today’s cost-sensitive environment.”
Interestingly, the D-Max’s rise comes at a time when diesel vehicles are facing greater scrutiny due to the surging pump prices in Peninsular Malaysia. Yet, Isuzu has successfully flipped the narrative by highlighting the D-Max’s ultra-efficient 1.9-litre engine variants, which now account for 72.7% of total sales. The 1.9-litre 4×4 Auto Premium, 1.9-litre 4×4 Auto Standard, and 1.9-litre 4×2 Auto Plus are not only popular but also record-setting—two of them recently entered the Malaysian Book of Records after covering 2,004km on a single tank of fuel.
Traditionally a powerhouse in East Malaysia, where it commands a dominant 28.4% share, Isuzu has now made significant strides in Peninsular Malaysia as well. Market share in the region jumped from 12.1% in 2024 to an impressive 17.1% in 2025, signaling a nationwide embrace of the brand.
Offering class-leading features, sleek design, a five-year warranty, and road tax under RM400 annually for private owners, the Isuzu D-Max is proving to be the go-to solution for Malaysians looking to stretch their ringgit further without compromising on performance or practicality.
