Evolvelectric Motors Sdn Bhd has officially introduced the JAC T9 double-cab pickup truck to the Malaysian market, offering both a fuel-efficient diesel-powered Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) variant and an advanced Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) model. With its bold design, luxurious interior, cutting-edge technology, and impressive performance, the T9 sets a new standard for pickup trucks in Malaysia.

A key highlight of the lineup is the T9 2.0L diesel variant, which holds the distinction of being Malaysia’s only pickup truck to achieve a 5-star Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) safety rating under the latest evaluation criteria. Meanwhile, the T9 BEV makes history as the nation’s first all-electric 4×4 pickup truck.

According to Evolvelectric Motors CEO, Mr. Lau Yit Mun, the JAC T9 is designed to cater to a wide range of Malaysian drivers. JAC Motors’ reputation for quality and performance is reflected in its global success. In 2024, the company became China’s leading exporter of pickup trucks.

The T9 boasts premium features designed to enhance convenience and driving pleasure. These include a 64-color ambient lighting system with music synchronization, a range of charging options—including 50W wireless charging, USB, Type-C, and a 220V multi-power socket—along with a cooling air vent in the armrest for chilled drinks and snacks. The truck also comes equipped with a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch instrument cluster, a 360° high-definition camera, an intelligent electronic shift system with four driving modes (Eco, Normal, Sport, and Snow), and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for a safer and more effortless driving experience.

The T9 diesel variant is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, producing 125kW and 410Nm of torque between 1,500 and 2,500 rpm. It is paired with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission that channels power to the rear wheels.

Meanwhile, the T9 BEV 4×4 runs on an 88 kWh LFP battery pack sourced from Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL), delivering an estimated range of 340 kilometers (WLTP) on a full charge. Its dual-motor setup generates a combined 220kW of power and a peak torque of 516Nm, reaching a top speed of 140km/h. Charging is efficient, with DC fast charging (88kW) replenishing the battery from 15% to 80% in just 45 minutes, while AC charging takes approximately 8 hours and 30 minutes for a full charge from 15% to 100%.

To mark the T9’s arrival, Evolvelectric Motors is maintaining special introductory prices until the end of 2025:

  • T9 Diesel Variant – RM119,888 (Peninsula Malaysia, on-the-road without insurance)
    • 8-year or unlimited mileage engine warranty (for the first owner, per service policy)
    • 5-year or unlimited mileage vehicle warranty
  • T9 BEV Variant – RM199,888 (Peninsula Malaysia, on-the-road without insurance)
    • 6-year or 200,000km battery warranty (whichever comes first)

In conjunction with the launch, Evolvelectric Motors is hosting a test drive campaign at 1Utama, Ground Floor of Highstreet (New Wing), from March 6-9, 2025. As part of the promotion, participants who test drive the T9—either at a roadshow location or by booking via Evolvelectric Motors’ Facebook page—stand a chance to win a 4-day, 3-night family trip to Perth, Australia. The contest runs until May 31, 2025.
