Continental Tyre Malaysia has announced a strategic partnership with four prominent automotive academies—Leng Kee Auto Academy, Pro Skills Academy, Rimbunan Hijau Academy, and Techtra Automotive Academy. This collaboration aims to enhance talent development within the industry by providing students with hands-on experience while strengthening the talent pipeline for Continental’s retailer network.
Through this initiative, students will gain real-world exposure, increasing their career readiness and broadening their employment prospects. By becoming the first tyre manufacturer to collaborate with local automotive academies, Continental is expanding job opportunities beyond traditional placements in car manufacturers’ service centers. This partnership not only addresses the industry’s talent shortage but also fosters a workforce equipped with the necessary skills for long-term industry sustainability.
“This collaboration underscores our commitment to talent development and industry growth. By working with these esteemed academies, we are shaping a skilled workforce and creating more career opportunities for future professionals,” said Ms. Andrea Somorova, Managing Director of Continental Tyre PJ Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
Academy leaders echoed their support for the initiative:
- Mr. Kek, Founder and Principal of Leng Kee Auto Academy, emphasized the importance of real-world learning experiences in helping students transition seamlessly from education to employment.
- Mr. Yang, Chairman of Pro Skills Academy, highlighted how aligning coursework with industry needs enhances student employability.
- Ms. Sarah Tiong, Director of Rimbunan Hijau Academy, noted that the collaboration provides students with valuable training, preparing them for industry demands.
- Mr. Fong, Director of Techtra Automotive Academy, expressed confidence that hands-on exposure to the tyre industry would maximize student engagement and skill development.
As part of the partnership, Continental and the academies will introduce joint training programs focusing on industry knowledge exchange. Continental experts will conduct comprehensive tyre-related training, while academies will provide specialized courses tailored to evolving automotive trends. Training sessions will cover key areas such as technical upskilling, vehicle maintenance, and electric vehicle (EV) technology, equipping students with expertise for a dynamic career in the modern automotive sector.
