Visitors to Merdeka 118 can now enjoy a smoother and more efficient journey with the official opening of the Belfield Tunnel, an infrastructure project by PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Berhad (PMVSB), a subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB). This new route improves connectivity to Menara Merdeka 118, the world’s second-tallest tower, while helping to reduce congestion on key city roads.

Spanning just over one kilometer, the Belfield Tunnel is Malaysia’s second two-storey tunnel, designed exclusively for vehicles traveling to and from Merdeka 118. It offers an alternative entry and exit point, optimizing traffic flow and easing congestion in the city center.

Dato’ Tengku Ab. Aziz Tengku Mahmud, Chief Executive Officer of PMVSB, expressed enthusiasm about the tunnel’s launch: “The Belfield Tunnel is a crucial link that enhances accessibility to Merdeka 118 and nearby landmarks such as Stadium Merdeka. Our goal is to provide a seamless, stress-free journey into the city, ensuring easy access for all visitors. With parking capacity for up to 8,000 vehicles, we look forward to welcoming business professionals, shoppers, and tourists alike to experience everything Merdeka 118 has to offer.”

The tunnel features two entry points from Jalan Syed Putra and Jalan Damansara, leading directly to basement car park 4 of Menara Merdeka 118. Exiting the precinct is just as convenient, with vehicles departing from basement car park 5 via designated exits at Jalan Syed Putra and Jalan Istana.

Designed to ease congestion in the surrounding area, the tunnel helps alleviate traffic buildup on Jalan Hang Jebat, Jalan Hang Tuah, and Jalan Maharajalela, improving overall traffic efficiency.

With this connectivity enhancement, visitors can now access Merdeka 118 with greater ease, whether for business, leisure, or tourism. The tunnel will also facilitate smooth entry to Malaysia’s only Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur and 118 Mall, scheduled to open in Q2 2025 and Q2 2026, respectively, promising a seamless transition into luxury hospitality and retail experiences.
