PRO-NET launched 2025 with an electrifying event—the inaugural long drive of the highly anticipated Proton e.MAS 7. Dubbed the Weekend SPARK Media Drive, the event took participants on a journey to historical Malacca, showcasing the groundbreaking capabilities of Proton’s all-new electric vehicle.

Media members were invited to experience the e.MAS 7’s cutting-edge features, including its 12-in-1 intelligent drive unit and semi-autonomous Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). The drive spanned a mix of terrains, from bustling city roads to scenic rural stretches, single-carriageways, and highways, offering a comprehensive test of the vehicle’s performance.

The event also introduced the “e.MAS 7 Efficiency Challenge,” which encouraged participants to compete for the lowest battery consumption. The journey began at Proton’s Centre of Excellence (COE) and concluded at a Proton e.MAS dealership in Malacca, spotlighting the next-generation battery and drive systems available in both the Prime and Premium variants of the e.MAS 7.

Led by automotive enthusiast Ikhwan Nazri, the winning team achieved an impressive feat—completing the drive with just 30% battery usage and a remaining range of 300 km. “The four regen settings really stood out to me,” shared Ikhwan. “By using the lowest setting, the car maintained greater inertia, perfect for coasting and cruising. This made all the difference in achieving the lowest power consumption. It’s a reminder that mastering coasting is the secret to maximizing range in EVs—and even ICE vehicles.”

Upon arrival in Malacca, the e.MAS 7’s sleek, futuristic design created a striking contrast against the historic backdrops of landmarks like the Stadthuys and A Famosa. This picturesque setting served as the stage for the event’s final challenge: a creative video competition. Teams captured the essence of the drive and the vehicle, highlighting the e.MAS 7 while celebrating the seamless blend of tradition and modernity.

“The Weekend SPARK Media Drive allowed our media friends to enjoy a relaxing, fun-filled weekend while discovering what makes the e.MAS 7 so special,” said Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET. “It was the perfect way to showcase the capabilities of our all-new EV.”
