In a bid to accelerate the country’s sustainability goals, Sime Motors and Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia have formed a strategic partnership aimed at promoting electric vehicle (EV) adoption and enhancing the accessibility of environmentally-friendly transportation options.
The collaboration was officially launched today with the opening of AutoArena, the first-ever automotive event to be held at the National Stadium Kuala Lumpur Sports City. This three-day event will showcase a wide variety of vehicles from Sime Motors’ renowned automotive brands, including BMW, MINI, Motorrad, BYD, Ford, Hyundai, Jaguar, Land Rover, and Volvo, alongside a selection of premium pre-owned vehicles from Auto Selection. This event is just the beginning of a series of automotive experiences to be jointly organized by Sime Motors and Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia.
As part of their collaboration, Sime Motors will also provide Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia with two electric vehicles (EVs) for a 24-month period, which will be used as official vehicles for the stadium’s operations. Additionally, an EV charging station will be installed at the venue by Gentari, offering convenient charging options to visitors and the surrounding community.
Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Southeast Asia at Sime Motors, remarked, “EV adoption is gaining momentum in Malaysia, as evidenced by the continued increase in EV sales, especially in 2024. Our partnership with Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia supports the transition to a more sustainable future by providing not only EVs for operational use but also accessible charging infrastructure. This initiative aligns with the government’s 2030 goal of increasing EV adoption and aims to raise awareness about the advantages of EV ownership.”
He further emphasized, “Sime Motors offers a comprehensive range of EVs across our brands. Our vast experience in the automotive industry, combined with our strong sales and customer support network, makes events like AutoArena a great opportunity to showcase these advancements at the iconic Bukit Jalil National Stadium.”
Iliyas Jamil, CEO of Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia, commented, “Bukit Jalil National Stadium stands as a symbol of national pride, and we are proud to partner with Sime Motors in promoting sustainability and green mobility. As a prominent venue that attracts over one million visitors each year, the stadium offers a prime location to showcase the ease and practicality of adopting EVs, helping to inspire more Malaysians to adopt sustainable practices.”
AutoArena will be open to the public from now until Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Visitors can enjoy a variety of exciting offers and promotions throughout the event.
