Proton has introduced the Proton X50 Sport Edition (SE), a premium iteration of its best-selling SUV, tailored for enthusiasts seeking a blend of sporty aesthetics and advanced features. Built upon the robust Proton X50 Premium variant, this exclusive edition elevates the SUV experience with enhanced styling, superior conveniences, and a touch of exclusivity.
Having dominated the B-segment SUV category in Malaysia since its 2020 debut, the Proton X50 continues its legacy as the country’s No.1 choice in 2024, with over 128,000 units sold to date. The new Sport Edition aims to further strengthen this position by offering a fresh, sportier appeal while maintaining the core performance, safety, and technology features that have won over customers.
The Proton X50 SE boasts 13 exclusive enhancements, including a sporty Aerokit with front, rear, and side skirting. Its Quartz Black exterior is complemented by glossy black garnishes, striking decals, and black 18-inch alloy wheels, exuding sophistication and dynamism.
Inside, the cabin combines practicality with premium touches. New features include a wireless charger, sport edition carpet mats, stainless steel scuff plates, and a boot tray for better cargo organization.
Powering the Proton X50 SE is the brand’s award-winning 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with Multi Point Fuel Injection, producing 150 PS and 226 Nm of torque. Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (7DCT), it ensures a smooth and engaging driving experience. The model also retains its five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating.
Incorporating updates from the 2024 Proton X50, the SE edition features a cutting-edge 10.3-inch infotainment head unit powered by a dual quad-core processor. It includes the “Hi Proton” voice command system and Proton Link app, enabling remote engine start and cabin cooling. A High-Definition 360 Camera with 3D surround view enhances parking safety, while a 6-speaker audio system, power-adjustable driver’s seat, and automatic air conditioning ensure comfort. Additionally, security tint provides privacy and UV protection.
With only 1,000 units available, the Proton X50 SE offers RM10,000 worth of added value but is priced attractively at RM105,300. Buyers in January can enjoy a limited-time cash rebate of RM7,000 and Angpao savings, bringing total savings to RM13,500.
Roslan Abdullah, Deputy CEO of Proton, stated, “The Proton X50 Sport Edition brings more excitement to our customers by building on the immense popularity of the X50. With this edition, we aim to deliver a sportier, more dynamic version that our customers have been eagerly waiting for.”
Alongside the launch, Proton announced the “Test Drive and Win Festive Fortune” campaign, running from January to March 2025. Customers who test drive any Proton model stand a chance to win monthly cash prizes of up to RM5,000. Those who book and register a Proton vehicle will enter a lucky draw, offering monthly grand prizes like travel packages worth RM10,000 and a final grand prize of a brand-new Proton X50 Sport Edition.
