NexV Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd. (NMSB) and Global NEV Technology Sdn. Bhd. (GNEV) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore strategic collaborations in assembling and manufacturing New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in Malaysia.

This partnership combines NexV’s advanced manufacturing expertise with GNEV’s strong background in import and distribution. The initial phase will focus on Knocked Down (KD) operations, with GNEV signaling its intent to engage NexV for contract assembly services.

The MoU lays the groundwork for a collaborative effort to develop Malaysia’s first green technology facility dedicated to NEV production. Detailed plans and commitments will be outlined in a Definitive Agreement, which the two companies aim to finalize by February 2025.

“This MoU is a significant milestone in our mission to advance Malaysia’s green technology landscape. Together, we are poised to set new standards for NEV assembly and manufacturing in the region,” said Lim Kwee Shyan, CEO of NexV Manufacturing.

The collaboration’s first major milestone will be the assembly of GNEV’s EV vans, powered by LiuZhou Wuling, to address the growing demand for commercial electric vehicles in ASEAN markets. If the Definitive Agreement is signed as planned, the first commercial EVs could roll off NexV’s production lines by Q1 2026.

“We are thrilled about the possibilities this partnership offers. It not only delivers innovative NEV solutions but also aligns with Malaysia’s vision of becoming a regional hub for sustainable technology,” said Andrew Thu Pong Fan, Executive Director of GNEV.

NexV Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd., a joint venture between Careplus Group Berhad and GoAuto Group Sdn. Bhd., is spearheading Malaysia’s transition to sustainable automotive technology. The company’s NEV manufacturing plant in Chembong, Negeri Sembilan, is set to begin operations in Q2 2025, driving economic growth and creating job opportunities in the region.

Global NEV Technology Sdn. Bhd., as the importer and distributor for New Energy Valley Group’s GNEV brand of electric commercial vehicles, has ambitious plans for a 15-year technology transfer program between China and Malaysia. This initiative aims to establish a Malaysian EV technology hub, redefining the region’s EV market landscape.

Beyond its alignment with Malaysia’s green initiatives, the project is expected to serve as a catalyst for economic transformation. By fostering innovation, supporting local suppliers, and nurturing homegrown talent, the partnership aspires to position Malaysia as a leader in sustainable automotive solutions in ASEAN.

This collaboration underscores the country’s commitment to embracing cutting-edge technologies while building a vibrant ecosystem for the NEV industry, propelling Malaysia toward a greener and more prosperous future.
