BMW Group Malaysia concluded 2024 with exceptional achievements, delivering over 13,500 units of BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad vehicles. Notably, 66% of these were locally assembled, solidifying its position as Malaysia’s Number One Premium Automaker for another successful year.
The company’s commitment to premium electromobility was evident as it retained its position as the leading Premium Electric Vehicle Provider. Over 2,700 electric vehicles across its BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad brands were delivered, making up 20.5% of its total deliveries for the year. This brought the cumulative total of electrified BMW Group Malaysia vehicles on Malaysian roads to nearly 33,000.
The BMW brand led with over 10,500 premium vehicle deliveries, while MINI delivered over 1,400 units, and BMW Motorrad surpassed 1,600 motorcycle deliveries, matching its 2023 performance. Globally, the BMW Group delivered more than 2.45 million vehicles in 2024, with significant growth in its fully electric segment. Over 426,000 fully electric vehicles were delivered worldwide, representing a 13.5% year-over-year increase.
Locally, BMW Group Malaysia introduced 27 new models and variants in 2024, including 12 fully electric options. A standout model, the BMW iX2 xDrive30 M Sport, debuted in April and became the top performer in the BMW i segment with over 460 units delivered in just nine months.
The best-selling vehicle of the year was the locally assembled BMW X1 sDrive20i, achieving nearly 1,500 deliveries and a remarkable 195% growth compared to 2023. Other top performers included the BMW X4 xDrive30i M Sport Pro and BMW X5 xDrive50e M Sport. In the sedan segment, the BMW 3 Series led with over 2,700 units, while the newly introduced BMW 520i boosted 5 Series sales to over 790 units.
MINI Malaysia’s performance was bolstered by the launch of the New MINI Family, featuring models like the All-Electric MINI Countryman SE ALL4 and MINI Aceman SE. The locally assembled MINI Countryman led with over 340 deliveries, while the All-Electric MINI Countryman SE ALL4 followed with 320 units sold in seven months.
BMW Motorrad delivered over 760 adventure motorcycles, with the BMW R 1250 GS Adventure leading the pack at over 300 units. The Urban Mobility segment also grew by 21%, driven by the BMW C 400 GT scooter.
BMW Group Malaysia expanded its EV charging infrastructure in key locations across Klang Valley, Negeri Sembilan, and Pahang. It now offers over 2,020 charging facilities through partnerships with providers such as Gentari, ChargEV, and JomCharge. Additionally, more than 100 BMW i and MINI charging facilities are available at authorized dealerships and strategic locations nationwide.
BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia financed over 4,500 vehicles in 2024, with 46% being fully electric or plug-in hybrids. The division also achieved a global penetration rate of 67% for BMW Motorrad contracts. Digital financing solutions gained traction, with over 3,300 contracts managed through the Self-Service Portal on the MyBMW app.
Customer satisfaction remained a priority, with BMW Group Malaysia achieving the highest net promoter scores globally across its three brands. Sales scores were 98 for BMW, 97 for MINI, and 96 for BMW Motorrad, while service satisfaction across all brands was rated at 97.
Celebrating 20 years of the BMW Group Regional Parts Distribution Centre in Malaysia, the company expanded the facility in Johor Bahru with advanced features, including a high-voltage battery storage area and a solar-powered roof. The center underscores Malaysia’s strategic role as a logistics hub in the Asia-Pacific region, exporting over 11,000 vehicles to the Philippines and Thailand, making BMW Group Malaysia the largest vehicle exporter in the region.
