In preparation for the anticipated surge in traffic during the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations, AFA PRIME Berhad (formerly ANIH Berhad) has unveiled a comprehensive plan to ensure smooth and safe journeys for highway users. The Kuala Lumpur-Karak (KLK) and East Coast Expressway 1 (LPT1) are set to experience significant traffic increases, with eastbound travel peaking between January 24 and 28, and westbound return traffic from January 30 to February 3. Traffic on the KLK is expected to rise by 63%, reaching an average of 179,100 vehicles daily, while LPT1 is projected to see a 57% increase, climbing to 64,500 vehicles per day.

To accommodate the festive rush, AFA PRIME Berhad will boost its toll workforce by 20% and open additional toll lanes at all plazas, ensuring compliance with highway authority guidelines. From January 23 to February 3, no lanes on the expressways will be closed, except for emergencies or critical maintenance. The Traffic Division will expand its personnel by 20.5%, ensuring 24-hour monitoring and assistance via the Traffic Control Centre (TCC), LPT-RONDA units, and tow truck operations. Traffic supervisors and RELA personnel will also assist at toll plazas, rest areas, and lay-bys to enhance traffic flow.

Safety remains a top priority for AFA PRIME Berhad. The company conducts regular safety audits and compliance checks to uphold stringent standards. This includes integrating advanced technologies such as intelligent traffic management systems, promptly addressing user feedback, and adopting eco-friendly construction practices.

Notable projects reflecting AFA PRIME Berhad’s dedication to road safety include the RM2.1 billion KLK expansion and the RM200 million LPT1 flood mitigation initiative. These projects focus on reducing risks through routine maintenance, high-risk area upgrades, and innovative traffic management.

Datin Radzimah binti Mohd Radzi, Executive Director of AFA PRIME Berhad, emphasized the company’s commitment: “Chinese New Year is a time for family reunions and celebrations, and our mission is to ensure a safe and seamless journey for road users during this busy travel period. At AFA, we do more than just manage traffic—we enhance the travel experience by making our highways safer, smarter, and more efficient for everyone.”
