Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) has unveiled the All-New Nissan KICKS e-POWER, a sleek and electrified compact SUV, at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show 2024 (KLIMS). Held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), the launch signals Nissan’s commitment to sustainable mobility, introducing the first of many e-POWER models planned for the Malaysian market. Over the next three years, Nissan aims to launch three to five new models in the country.
The Nissan KICKS e-POWER stands out with its second-generation e-POWER system, delivering an electric motor-driven experience unlike conventional hybrids. Powered by a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder engine functioning solely as a generator, it charges an onboard lithium-ion battery, eliminating the need for external charging. This setup ensures instant torque, quiet acceleration, and smooth handling, providing a truly electric driving experience.
With an impressive fuel efficiency of 21.7 km/l, the KICKS e-POWER offers an estimated range of up to 900 km on a full tank. Its e-POWER system reduces tailpipe emissions by 20% compared to similar internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, making it an eco-friendly option for drivers transitioning from traditional vehicles.
The KICKS e-POWER’s front-mounted electric motor delivers 129 PS and 280 Nm of torque, powered by a 2.06 kWh lithium-ion battery. It features four driving modes—ECO, SPORT, STANDARD, and EV—catering to diverse driving preferences. The e-Pedal Step enables single-pedal driving, enhancing convenience in city traffic while making winding roads enjoyable.
Safety is a priority in the KICKS e-POWER, which boasts a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating and a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Features include Intelligent Driver Alertness, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Intelligent Cruise Control, and Intelligent Emergency Braking. The innovative Intelligent Rear-View Mirror (IRVM) enhances visibility with a high-resolution display, providing a clearer, obstruction-free view.
The KICKS e-POWER blends modern aesthetics with practicality. Its striking LED lights, V-motion grille, and floating roof create a sporty profile. Inside, Zero-Gravity seats, a quiet cabin, and high-quality materials elevate the driving experience. The spacious trunk and compact dimensions ensure convenience and maneuverability in urban settings.
Priced from RM113,800, the KICKS e-POWER offers a competitive entry point into electric mobility. Maintenance costs are significantly lower than many ICE and hybrid vehicles, at just RM3,624 over five years or 100,000 km. It comes with a 5-year/100,000 km vehicle warranty and an 8-year/160,000 km warranty for EV components, extended to 10 years for the first 500 customers.
The KICKS e-POWER will be available in two variants—VL and VLT—starting January 2025, with prices ranging from RM113,800 to RM125,800. Early bird customers can enjoy an introductory rebate of RM5,000 and extended warranty coverage, bringing prices down to RM108,800 for the VL variant.
