inDrive has achieved a monumental milestone by completing 5 billion transactions worldwide as of September 2024. This landmark event took place in Peru, symbolizing the platform’s remarkable global expansion since its inception in 2012 with its innovative bid-based pricing model.

This achievement coincides with the rapid growth of Southeast Asia’s ride-hailing market, including Malaysia. The Malaysian ride-hailing industry alone is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.5% from 2024 to 2029, reaching a market volume of USD 0.57 billion (RM 2.48 billion).

Since its entry into Malaysia, inDrive has firmly established its presence in major cities such as the Klang Valley, Penang, and Johor Bahru. During the first half of 2024, the platform recorded a 20% surge in rides and a 21% rise in active users, reflecting Malaysians’ growing preference for its transparent, negotiation-based pricing system. The number of active drivers is also expected to grow by 23% by year-end, meeting increasing demand for equitable ride-hailing services.

Mark Loughran, President and Deputy CEO at inDrive, celebrated the milestone, stating: “I am thrilled to congratulate the entire team at inDrive and thank our loyal community worldwide for completing 5 billion transactions – a testament to the global scale inDrive has achieved over the past decade. More than just a number, each transaction represents a meaningful impact, whether it’s providing services in underserved areas, creating job opportunities, or supporting non-profit initiatives through inVision, which promotes access to sports, arts, and education in communities where inDrive operates. Our mission has always been to improve people’s lives, and this milestone brings us closer to positively impacting 1 billion people by 2030. This achievement strengthens our resolve to grow sustainably while driving social change.”

Beyond ridesharing, inDrive has extended its bid-based model to other services, including intercity transportation, courier deliveries, freight services, and urban solutions like housekeeping and minor home repairs. Over the past eleven years, inDrive users have collectively traveled 32 billion kilometers—equivalent to 123,500 years of travel time—underscoring the platform’s growth into a global multi-service provider.
