TC Subaru Sdn. Bhd. Will be making waves at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur, held from November 8 to 10 at the Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). As part of the pre-event festivities, Subaru dealers, partners, media, and guests gathered at APW Bangsar for an exclusive preview of the Kuala Lumpur Edition livery, designed by Motorsport Playground, alongside a limited-edition streetwear collection by Pestle & Mortar Clothing (PMC).

The project brings together Japanese engineering excellence and Malaysian heritage in a bold celebration of both cultures. Motorsport Playground’s distinctive livery showcases intricate Songket-inspired prints across the Subaru BRZ and Subaru WRX, transforming the vehicles into artistic tributes to Malaysia’s traditional craftsmanship. Songket, known for its complex geometric patterns and deep cultural symbolism, serves as the perfect canvas for these high-performance cars.

Adding a local twist, the livery swaps out the iconic Japanese Sakura flower for Malaysia’s national flower, the Bunga Raya (Hibiscus). This infusion of national pride gives the designs a uniquely Malaysian identity, ensuring the collaboration resonates with locals.

Subaru’s creative partnership with Pestle & Mortar Clothing (PMC) extends beyond cars to a special streetwear collection. The collection reflects the fusion of Japanese precision and Malaysian artistry, appealing to motorsport enthusiasts and fashion lovers alike. Every piece embodies the balance between heritage and modern style, making the collection both accessible and distinctive.

As part of the launch campaign, Subaru also tested the BRZ and WRX on the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit, putting their capabilities to the test in a thrilling time attack challenge. Under the expert preparation of TD Racing, including basic alignments and oil checks, both vehicles demonstrated their performance prowess. Professional racer Freddie Ang took the BRZ and WRX around the circuit, recording times of 2:42.211 and 2:43.472 respectively, highlighting the power and agility these models can deliver.

Subaru’s presence at the Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur reflects more than just automotive prowess—it’s a testament to collaboration, creativity, and community spirit. The Kuala Lumpur Edition vehicles and the exclusive streetwear collection will be available for sale at MITEC from November 8 to 10, 2024. This initiative underscores Subaru’s commitment to pushing boundaries, blending cultures, and building meaningful connections through both cars and lifestyle products.
