Mercedes-Benz has strengthened its focus on operational excellence in the Asia-Pacific region with the launch of its new Regional Logistics Center Malaysia (RLCM). Managed by Mercedes-Benz Parts Logistics Asia Pacific Sdn. Bhd., this state-of-the-art facility, located in Senai Airport City Free Zone, is designed to elevate after-sales services by streamlining logistics across 20 countries in the region.

With an initial paid-up capital of RM189 million, Mercedes-Benz plans to increase its investment in the facility’s value chain to RM1.5 billion by 2035. This commitment will support phased growth, bolstering logistics capacity and ensuring readiness for future business expansion.

Covering over 1 million square feet, the RLCM is equipped with cutting-edge systems to improve material handling, flexibility, and workflow efficiency. These enhancements strengthen the facility’s logistics capabilities, positioning it as a benchmark in regional logistics. The RLCM facilitates the distribution of a wide variety of products, primarily spare parts, accessories, and workshop tools, for Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars and Vans throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

The facility leverages advanced technology to drive logistics efficiency, including an in-house warehouse management system, sophisticated forklifts, handheld scanners, and mobile workstations for increased adaptability. The Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) system maximizes storage efficiency and optimizes space utilization within the warehouse.

Looking ahead, the RLCM anticipates further automation to enhance logistics performance, with plans for automated storage systems, drones, and dimensional scanners. Autonomous forklifts and cleaning robots are already in place, ensuring a safe and clean working environment.

In line with Mercedes-Benz’s global sustainability goals, the RLCM aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2039, incorporating eco-friendly practices to reach this target. Key initiatives include on-site photovoltaic (PV) energy generation and Green Building Index (GBI) certification, reflecting Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint across the Asia-Pacific.

The facility adheres to Mercedes-Benz’s Corporate Environmental and Energy Management policy, focusing on CO2 reduction through precise energy monitoring and responsive actions. Environmental data such as waste and water metrics are collected and reported per Mercedes-Benz AG’s Environmental, Social, and Governance Reporting Standards (ESRS).

Additionally, the RLCM meets international standards ISO 9001 for Quality Management and ISO 14001 for Environmental Management, underscoring Mercedes-Benz’s leadership in sustainable logistics.

Beyond bolstering the global supply chain, the RLCM contributes to Malaysia’s economy by creating high-value jobs and enhancing local talent. Comprehensive training in logistics and supply chain management is provided, empowering the local workforce to excel in a dynamic industry.
