Sime Darby Motors recently unveiled the BYD SEALION 7, a premier electric SUV inspired by ocean themes and designed to be BYD’s flagship model in Malaysia. This luxurious SUV aims to redefine standards in the electric vehicle (EV) market with its exceptional performance, sophisticated styling, and advanced utility features.

To celebrate the launch of the BYD SEALION 7, BYD and Sime Darby Motors are also marking the company’s 2nd anniversary and its position as Malaysia’s top EV brand. To honor over 11,000 loyal customers, an exclusive upgrade program has been introduced, enabling existing BYD owners to trade in their vehicles for the new BYD SEALION 7.

The BYD SEALION 7 is available in two variants — Premium and Performance — each designed with a sleek, sloping roofline that enhances both aesthetics and aerodynamics. The Premium variant boasts 230 kW of power and 380 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and providing a range of up to 567 km on a full charge. This variant is ideal for drivers who need versatility for both city commutes and longer journeys.

For those seeking maximum power, the Performance variant elevates the experience with an impressive 390 kW and 690 Nm of torque, reaching 0-100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. Despite its high performance, this variant maintains an impressive electric range of 542 km, offering an engaging drive whether on urban roads or highways.

Both SEALION 7 variants are equipped with the innovative Blade Battery, celebrated for its enhanced safety and durability. This battery provides a longer range and lifecycle and supports both AC charging (Type 2) at 11kW and DC fast charging (CCS 2) at 150kW. The Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature also allows the SEALION 7 to function as an external power source, making it convenient for outdoor adventures or as an emergency backup.

Safety is a key focus in the SEALION 7, featuring nine airbags, including front, side, curtain, and driver far-side airbags for comprehensive protection. With a 360° camera and front and rear parking sensors, maneuvering tight spaces becomes a breeze. ISOFIX anchorage points provide secure seating options for children, enhancing family safety.

Advanced driver-assistance technologies further complement the SEALION 7’s safety suite. Features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, and Blind Spot Detection help create a secure and stress-free driving experience.

Inside, the SEALION 7 offers a refined and high-tech cabin with genuine leather seats, power adjustments for the driver and front passenger, and a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen that seamlessly integrates Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. The DYNAUDIO 12-speaker system enriches the in-car experience with immersive sound, while a panoramic glass roof brings natural light into the cabin. Dual-zone automatic air conditioning ensures comfort for all passengers.

As a leader in Malaysia’s EV market, BYD prioritizes customer service with 27 showrooms and service centers nationwide and plans to increase this to over 30 outlets by year’s end. This network is complemented by digital services, including the BYD app, allowing users to find service locations, access real-time support, and unlock their vehicles remotely.

The SEALION 7 is available in four colors: Cosmos Black, Aurora White, Atlantis Grey, and Shark Grey. The Premium variant is priced at RM183,800, while the Performance variant is available at RM199,800. Early birds who book by November 17, 2024, can enjoy a special promotion including a complimentary home charger and RM800 in charging credits, valid for registrations completed by December 31, 2024.
