The 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur promises an even bigger and more exciting event for car enthusiasts and JDM (Japan Domestic Model) fans. From November 8-10, 2024, the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) will host the much-anticipated show, featuring more than 300 high-performance tuned cars, including 15 special vehicles flown in from Japan. One lucky visitor will also have the chance to drive home in a tuned Honda Civic FK8R Type R Mugen.
This year’s event will expand significantly, offering an array of activities and competitions. Fans can look forward to a jaw-dropping auto styling competition judged by top Japanese tuners, car club gatherings, auto trading, drifting demonstrations, a racing simulator challenge, audio and pop & bang competitions, and live performances. A highlight of the event will be the return of Top Secret’s Smoky Nagata, with exhibits from iconic names like Veilside, Trust/Greddy, Option, Tomica, and San Ei Corporation.
Exclusive merchandise will be available, featuring apparel and accessories depicting iconic JDM models like the R33, R34, and R35 Nissan GT-Rs, Honda Civic FK8 and FL5 Type Rs, Mitsubishi Evo X, Toyota AE86, and Supra. Fans who purchase official merchandise online can enjoy a 5% discount.
Additionally, a limited-edition 1/64 diecast Chameleon Nissan GT-R R33 (NISMO 400R) will be available for fans to secure online with a ticket purchase or at the event while supplies last. Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur 2024 will also introduce brand ambassadors, including race queens from Japan, with one lucky Malaysian ambassador earning the chance to represent Malaysia at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon in Japan.
Jason Yap, Director and CEO of Element X Strategies, expressed the team’s commitment to surpassing fan expectations, noting that the success of the 2023 event, which drew 91,000 visitors, has pushed organizers to elevate the show’s scale and quality even further. Riduwan Matni, CEO of MUSE Group Asia, added that Japanese tuners were overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of Malaysian fans in 2023, prompting an even more impressive display this year.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2023, the Tokyo Auto Salon has become one of the premier global shows for car enthusiasts and industry insiders. It began in 1983, showcasing innovative Japanese car designs and has grown into a major platform for manufacturers and aftermarket companies to unveil new products and technology. A prelude to this year’s event included a GT-R Festival in Penang, featuring special guest Hiroshi Tamura, Nissan’s Brand Ambassador and the creator of the modern GT-R.
Fans attending Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur 2024 will also have the opportunity to win a stunning, unregistered 2019 Honda Civic FK8R Type R Mugen. This car, powered by a 318 bhp VTEC turbocharged engine, features exclusive modifications, including a Mugen body kit, 20” TE37 Rays sports rims, and a Mugen gear knob.
