Team Malaysia is set to compete in the upcoming FIA Motorsport Games, with the Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM) confirming entries in three disciplines at the prestigious event. The games, often dubbed the “Olympics of Motorsports,” will be held at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain, later this month.

Representing Malaysia in the GT discipline will be a formidable trio of drivers: Jazeman Jaafar, Selim Rafique, and Weiron Tan, all racing the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 under the management of Arrows Racing and proudly sponsored by Taxshield Pty Ltd. Jazeman will compete in the GT Sprint category, while Weiron and Selim will team up for the GT category.

“We are incredibly proud to send these homegrown talents to compete on such a prestigious stage,” said Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir, President of MAM. “The Motorsport Games provide an unparalleled platform for showcasing emerging motorsport talent from Southeast Asia. I am confident that our five Malaysian drivers have the skills and determination to compete against the best in the world.”

Jazeman expressed his excitement about the opportunity to represent Malaysia on the global stage: “I’m thrilled to be racing for Team Malaysia at the FIA Motorsport Games alongside Weiron and Selim. Our preparations have gone smoothly, and we are ready to face the challenges in Valencia. We’re aiming for strong results and can’t wait to show what we’ve worked so hard for. I’d like to extend my thanks to all our partners and MAM for making this possible.”

This will mark Malaysia’s third participation in the FIA Motorsport Games. The country first competed in 2019, when drivers Adrian D’Silva and Weiron Tan raced a Porsche GT3 in the GT Cup category. The games are unique in that drivers compete under the colors of their national flag, adding a patriotic dimension to the already intense competition.

The third edition of the FIA Motorsport Games, running from October 23-27, 2024, is set to be the largest yet. The event, jointly organized by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and SRO Motorsports Group, will feature 26 categories, including Circuit Racing, Esports, Karting, Off-road, and Rally. New additions such as Esports Rally and Auto Slalom promise to expand the scope of the games even further.

With Team Malaysia’s strong lineup and growing anticipation, the stage is set for a thrilling competition in Valencia.
