Proton’s debut electric vehicle, the Proton e.MAS 7, has continued its groundbreaking nationwide journey, clocking an impressive 1,147 kilometers through Malaysia’s East Coast during the third leg of the Proton e.MAS 7 Tour. With previous journeys covering 894 kilometers in the south and 1,183 kilometers in the north, the total distance covered now exceeds 3,200 kilometers—marking a milestone in Malaysia’s EV industry.

This unprecedented tour is led by PRO-NET, Proton’s new energy vehicle arm, bringing Malaysia’s first locally manufactured electric vehicle closer to potential buyers across the country. The tour also serves as a critical phase of rigorous testing for the Proton e.MAS 7, ensuring it meets the high standards expected in its home market. Engineers have meticulously tested both the hardware, including the Aegis Short Blade Battery powering the 12-in-1 Integrated Drive System, and the intelligent software to guarantee seamless functionality.

The second leg of the tour saw the e.MAS 7 cruising across the highways of northern Peninsular Malaysia, where it showcased its 160kW power capabilities and regenerative braking system. Stops in Ipoh, Penang, and Kedah allowed the public to experience the EV’s performance firsthand, drawing attention to its advanced safety features, spacious interior, and modern design.

In the latest phase of the tour, the e.MAS 7 traversed 1,147 kilometers across the East Coast states of Pahang, Terengganu, and Kelantan. The EV’s premium features—such as front ventilated seats with full-recline capabilities, rear seats with adjustable settings, 33 storage compartments, and ambient lighting—ensured a comfortable ride through scenic destinations like the Kuala Terengganu Drawbridge and Pasar Payang. The convoy’s stops at Proton dealerships generated excitement, with locals eager to explore the upcoming December launch of the vehicle.

Zhang Qiang, CEO of PRO-NET, highlighted the tour’s success: “The e.MAS 7 Tour has demonstrated not only the exceptional capabilities and comfort of Proton’s first EV but also our commitment to leading the way in sustainable mobility and nurturing the local EV ecosystem.”

With the tour now past its halfway mark, the Proton e.MAS 7 Tour will shift focus to Selangor and Kuala Lumpur for its fourth leg. It will include a special appearance at the Auto Car Expo (ACE) 2024 at Setia City Convention Centre, coinciding with dealership visits across the Klang Valley on October 25–27.
