Proton recently entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Grab Malaysia to provide special perks for e-hailing drivers purchasing the Proton Saga. This collaboration combines Proton’s reputation for delivering quality vehicles with Grab’s wide-reaching platform to elevate the driving experience while meeting the demands of the growing e-hailing industry.

The MoA was signed by Roslan Abdullah, Proton’s Deputy CEO, and Rashid Shukor, Director of Country Operations and Mobility at Grab Malaysia. Attending as witnesses were Edmund Lim Meng Thong, Vice President of Sales & After Sales at Proton Edar, and Tan Jiong Jian, Grab Malaysia’s Director of Commercial and Deliveries.

This partnership marks Proton’s strategic effort to bolster its presence in the e-hailing sector by offering Grab drivers a reliable and affordable vehicle option in the Proton Saga. The Proton Saga has long been celebrated for its durability, safety features, and affordability, making it an ideal choice for e-hailing services. The car’s practical features, such as ABS, electronic brake distribution, traction control, parking sensors, and a touch screen, enhance its appeal. With over 2 million units sold by May 2023 and a 5% year-on-year sales growth, the Proton Saga continues to be a top choice for Malaysians.

Launching on November 4, the “Saga Power Up for Grab Drivers” campaign offers Grab driver-partners priority access to the Proton Saga, featuring cash rebates and a 5% service discount valid for up to two years or 40,000 kilometers. There is no purchase limit for qualified drivers, provided they meet Grab Malaysia’s requirements.

Roslan Abdullah expressed excitement about the collaboration, highlighting the importance of the Proton Saga’s reliability and low maintenance costs for drivers who depend on their vehicles for work. He emphasized that the initiative also aligns with Proton’s goal of making transportation more accessible to Malaysians.

Rashid Shukor noted that this partnership supports the growing digital economy by providing more earning opportunities for Malaysians. In addition to Proton’s incentives, Grab is offering a bonus of up to RM500 for new drivers who purchase a Proton Saga and activate their Grab Driver account. As demand for rides increases, this initiative aims to boost the supply of active drivers.
