Malaysians are about to experience the future of driving with the Proton e.MAS 7, the national carmaker’s first electric vehicle (EV). This monumental launch comes in the form of the e.MAS 7 Tour, a coast-to-coast journey spanning over 2,000 kilometers, showcasing the vehicle’s capabilities and celebrating Malaysian engineering. Starting on October 5, the tour will traverse the entire country, from Peninsular Malaysia to East Malaysia, concluding in Sarawak on November 29.

The Proton e.MAS 7 is in its final testing phase, where rigorous evaluations ensure the EV meets the specific needs of Malaysian consumers. The tour builds on the success of the Geely E5’s Long Test Drive from China to Malaysia, which proved the durability and reliability of the technology under harsh weather conditions. Now, the e.MAS 7 is set to take on the diverse roads and terrains of Malaysia, making stops at local culinary hotspots along the way, starting in Negeri Sembilan.

The first leg of the tour will see the Proton e.MAS 7 traveling south through Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor. Throughout the tour, there will be scheduled stops at charging stations and popular food destinations, giving the public a chance to interact with and experience the new EV firsthand.

This tour marks an exciting new chapter for PROTON, allowing the brand to introduce its first-ever electric vehicle to the public. Even under its camouflaged exterior, the e.MAS 7’s modern design language shines through, featuring full-length LED taillights and power-retractable door handles, which highlight the company’s focus on intelligent, forward-thinking design.

By navigating the country’s roads in all weather conditions, the e.MAS 7 Tour serves as a real-world demonstration of the vehicle’s quality, reliability, and durability. Developed in collaboration with Geely, the e.MAS 7 represents a powerful fusion of cutting-edge technology and Malaysian engineering expertise.

“The e.MAS 7 Tour is an exciting journey for the brand, showcasing our bold design and advancements in technology to the public. Our engineers are working diligently to adapt the Proton e.MAS 7 to Malaysian conditions, reaffirming PRO-NET’s commitment to growing the local EV ecosystem,” said Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET.

To engage the public during the tour, local influencers will join the journey at different stops, connecting with fans at food hubs and encouraging people to get involved. At various points along the route, the e.MAS 7 will visit Proton dealerships, offering a festive atmosphere with digital content creators capturing the moments.

The tour officially begins at PROTON’s Centre of Excellence in Shah Alam and will make the following stops during its first leg:

  • October 5, 2024 – Negeri Sembilan and Melaka
  • October 6, 2024 – Melaka and Johor
