Proton provided 20 units of its Proton X90 Flagship SUV to serve as official transport during the 17th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention (WCEC) held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC) from 9-11 September. The vehicles were used to chauffeur foreign dignitaries, top executives, and members from various business sectors throughout the three-day event.
Organized by the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM), the convention saw Proton’s first New Energy Vehicle (NEV) model ensuring that VVIPs traveled in comfort and style as they attended meetings, appointments, and various other engagements. The Proton X90 also provided transport for delegates heading to their accommodations or to the airport at the conclusion of the event.
The spacious cabin of the Proton X90, with its three-row seating, was praised by passengers. Its ability to comfortably seat six adults on luxurious Nappa leather seats and its independent rear air-conditioning contributed to the positive feedback from the guests. Several dignitaries, including Cheng Hong, Vice President of the China Overseas Chinese Association, and Wang Yanfei, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Sichuan Provincial People’s Congress, chose the Proton X90 for a post-convention visit to tourist sites in Melaka, reinforcing the SUV’s reputation for comfort and elegance.
Since its launch in May 2023, the Proton X90 has quickly become one of the best-selling models in the D-segment SUV market, with 7,322 units sold to date. The SUV retained its leadership position in August 2023 and was also awarded the “Local Car of the Year” title at the 2023 StarCarSifu Editors’ Choice Awards, further solidifying its success just six months after its debut.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of China-Malaysia bilateral relations, the Proton X90 stands as a symbol of the successful collaboration between the two nations. It also marks a significant milestone for Proton, whose SUV range has played a key role in the company’s turnaround since its partnership with Geely seven years ago.
The Proton X90, Proton’s first mild-hybrid SUV, offers outstanding value for customers seeking a large, spacious, and well-appointed three-row vehicle. The model also delivers a refined driving experience, and its Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) enhances safety, making it the ideal vehicle for transporting foreign delegates during such a high-profile event.
