Proton marked a significant milestone at its Centre of Excellence (COE) today, officially launching the Proton e.MAS 7 Tour. This event marks the handover from Geely’s successful E5 Long Test Drive World Tour, with Proton now taking the reins. The e.MAS 7 is set to embark on a bold, nationwide journey, showcasing Proton’s innovative electric vehicle across Malaysia.

As the first national electric vehicle (EV) brand, Proton e.MAS will also be the first to conduct a tour of this scale with an EV. The Proton e.MAS 7 Tour offers Malaysians a unique chance to experience the vehicle first-hand, as it traverses over 2,000 kilometers through diverse landscapes—from coastal roads to mountainous terrains—demonstrating its performance and capabilities.

The tour kicks off on October 5, 2024, covering every state in Malaysia. The first leg will journey through Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor, before moving on to Pahang, Terengganu, and Kelantan. From there, it will head to the northern states of Perak, Penang, Kedah, and Perlis, before hitting KL and Selangor. The tour will then cross over to East Malaysia, starting in Sabah and concluding in Sarawak.

“We are excited to embark on this journey with the Proton e.MAS 7. Our goal is to give Malaysians an immersive experience, showcasing how the e.MAS 7 handles the unique road conditions and climates across the country. This tour will not only highlight our diverse communities but also create deeper connections with our customers,” said Zhang Qiang, CEO of PRO-NET.

Before the official tour begins, the public will have an opportunity to catch a preview of the Proton e.MAS 7 and meet the PRO-NET team at key locations in Putrajaya on September 25 and Shah Alam on September 26. Visitors are encouraged to share their suggestions for the best pit stops along the tour.

Proton’s e.MAS 7 draws inspiration from its sibling, the Geely E5, which completed a grueling 3,700-kilometer trek from China to Malaysia as part of the Long Test Drive World Tour. Despite encountering harsh conditions, including Typhoon Yagi and floodwaters, the Geely E5 demonstrated remarkable durability and reliability—qualities that the Proton e.MAS 7 proudly inherits.

“The Geely E5’s 3,700-kilometer journey was an extraordinary achievement. It endured challenging weather, rough roads, and even floodwaters, highlighting the advanced engineering that also powers the Proton e.MAS 7. This tour will be a testament to the vehicle’s resilience, marking a game-changing moment for our market,” Zhang Qiang added.

In line with its mission to expand EV adoption, Proton continues to forge strategic partnerships and share insights to overcome challenges in the EV sector. The joint development of the Proton e.MAS 7 alongside the Geely E5 has enabled Proton to incorporate cutting-edge, world-first technologies into a vehicle tailored specifically for Malaysian drivers.

Building on the durability showcased by the Geely E5, the Proton e.MAS 7 is engineered to excel in diverse conditions—from navigating rough terrains to demonstrating superior performance in unpredictable weather. It promises to leave a lasting impact on the Malaysian EV market.
