Central Auto Distributors Bhd (CADB) recently marked a significant moment in the country’s electric vehicle (EV) journey with the appointment of 23 authorized dealers. These dealerships, forming the first batch in the nationwide network, will spearhead the launch of the highly anticipated Dongfeng Box electric vehicle, set to debut in the fourth quarter of this year.

As Malaysia embraces a greener future, the Dongfeng Box emerges as a standout contender in the EV market, offering a remarkable range of 430 km on a single charge. This fully electric light passenger vehicle boasts cutting-edge safety features, including an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) with lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, collision warning, and an automatic parking system. Its combination of performance and advanced technology makes it the ideal solution for urban transportation.

Alongside the announcement of these authorized dealers, CADB has also unveiled the opening of its first CADB Experience Centre at Wisma Yayasan PEKEMA in Cyberjaya, as well as its flagship store in Kota Damansara. These centres will provide customers and stakeholders with a unique opportunity to experience the Dongfeng Box firsthand. Both locations will serve as hubs for education, training, and customer engagement, reinforcing CADB’s commitment to promoting the adoption of electric vehicles in Malaysia.

Further demonstrating its dedication to offering high-quality EVs tailored to local needs, CADB has successfully completed the final Research & Development (R&D) phase for the Dongfeng Box. Three units of the Dongfeng Box underwent rigorous testing, covering a distance of 45,000 km across Peninsular Malaysia between July and September 2024. The testing included a variety of challenging terrains, driving conditions, and environmental factors, ensuring the vehicle’s readiness for Malaysian roads.

Key tests such as the Adaptive Durability Test (DAT), Electric Road Test (ERT), and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) Test were conducted, resulting in improvements to the vehicle’s navigation system, safety features, and the Digital Head Unit (DHU) to meet the preferences of Malaysian drivers. This final phase of R&D confirms that the Dongfeng Box is fully optimized for the demands of daily commuting while maintaining high standards of safety, comfort, and efficiency.

The newly appointed 23 dealers will form the foundation of CADB’s sales and service network, offering comprehensive after-sales services across five major regions in Malaysia. This extensive support infrastructure is set to enhance customer confidence and satisfaction as the Dongfeng Box prepares to enter the market.
