Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has officially launched the exclusive Golf GTI Edition 50, marking a significant milestone in the iconic model’s 50th-anniversary celebrations. Priced at RM267,990, the special edition comes inclusive of the Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP), offering 5 years of maintenance, an unlimited mileage warranty, and 5 years of roadside assistance.
The GTI Edition 50 stands out with a suite of distinctive accessories, including an Oettinger body kit, new rims, black side mirror caps, exclusive Edition 50 emblems, and sporty side decorative films inspired by the GTI’s signature honeycomb design. Additional exterior enhancements include “Edition 50” VW Tint and “50” emblems on both B-pillars, further emphasizing its unique status.
The Oettinger body kit, featuring a black front spoiler, black roof spoiler, and diffuser, not only elevates the car’s visual appeal but also enhances its performance. The 18-inch ‘Pretoria’ light alloy wheels, finished in high-gloss black, are paired with “GTI” Dynamic wheel hub caps and VW Design aluminum valve caps, completing the car’s bold exterior look.
Inside, the GTI Edition 50 distinguishes itself with unique touches, including a “50” emblem on the center spoke of the GTI’s multifunction sport steering wheel, “Edition 50” aluminum side scuff plates, and custom front carpet mats. The special edition is available in two exclusive color options: Oryx White and Moonstone Grey.

Under the hood, the GTI Edition 50 retains the exhilarating performance that the GTI is known for. It is powered by a 2.0TSI turbocharged engine, paired with a 7-speed wet clutch DSG, delivering 245PS and 370Nm of torque.
Additional features include a premium 10-speaker, 480-watt Harman Kardon sound system, a 10-inch Discover Media infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Safety is enhanced with Volkswagen’s IQ.DRIVE technology, including advanced driver assistance systems such as Travel Assist with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Side Assist, Front Assist, Lane Assist, and a Head-up Display.
The Golf GTI has been synonymous with sporty driving pleasure since its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1975. Nearly five decades and eight generations later, it remains one of the most beloved hatchbacks worldwide.
The GTI Edition 50 will be showcased at the upcoming Golf Fan Fest on August 24, 2024, at the North Paddock of Sepang International Circuit. It will also be available for viewing at Volkswagen dealerships starting August 17, 2024.
