Nearly six years after its debut, Proton’s first SUV has undergone a significant transformation, reaffirming its position as a leader in the premium C-segment SUV class. Unveiled at the Marriott Hotel, the 2025 Proton X70 boasts refreshed styling, upgraded interior features, enhanced safety technologies, and—for the first time on a Proton model—seamless connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Since its introduction in December 2018, the Proton X70 has reshaped Malaysia’s premium SUV segment, with over 100,000 units sold and seven prestigious awards to its name. Its global counterpart, the Geely Boyue, has also seen success, with over 1.8 million units sold across 49 countries. The 2025 Proton X70 is poised to build on this legacy with an impressive combination of cutting-edge features and remarkable performance.

The 2025 X70 features a bold exterior overhaul inspired by customer feedback and the desire to reflect a distinct Malaysian identity. Notable updates include a larger front grille with elegant songket-pattern elements surrounding the Proton emblem, complemented by trapezoidal LED headlamps consisting of 47 individual LEDs. The redesigned front bumper, fenders, and a hood featuring twin power domes give the SUV a more aggressive stance. At the rear, a new bumper with a diffuser adds a sleek touch, while new 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels complete the cohesive design.

Under the hood, the 2025 Proton X70 is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged direct injection engine, assembled in Proton’s Tanjong Malim plant. This engine delivers 177PS and 255Nm of torque and is paired with a state-of-the-art 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, ensuring swift gear changes and improved noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels. In addition, the drivetrain tuning has achieved a 4% improvement in fuel efficiency.

Inside, the X70’s revamped interior is designed for superior comfort and technology integration. Drivers are greeted with a new steering wheel and a luxurious stone grey colour scheme in the Premium and Premium X variants. The two top variants also feature ambient LED lighting with 72 colour options, synchronized with the music playing inside. All models come equipped with a new 12.3-inch floating display, powered by a dual quad-core processor, with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The familiar “Hi Proton” voice command system and Proton Intelligent Air Purifier System (PIAPS) are also included, while both wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity debut in this model. A new remote engine start function via the Proton Link app ensures the cabin is cool and comfortable before entering.

Proton has enhanced its safety systems in the 2025 PROTON X7 0, building on its reputation as a pioneer in active safety. The Premium and Premium X variants now feature Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) Level 2, including 13 active safety systems such as Autonomous Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control with stop-and-go, and Lane Departure Prevention, among others. Standard safety features across all variants include six airbags, ABS, Electronic Brake Distribution, Traction Control, Hill Hold Assist, and Hill Descent Control.

To celebrate the launch, Proton is offering a value-added package worth up to RM23,500 at no extra cost to the first 3,000 customers. This offer includes a five-year unlimited mileage warranty, a five-year data package with 1GB per month, and six complimentary labour services.

The 2025 Proton X70 is available for booking online and at authorized showrooms, with prices starting at RM98,800 for the Standard variant, and all the way to RM 126,800 for the most expensive Premium X variant. The model is offered in five striking exterior colours: Snow White, Armour Silver, Jet Grey, Ruby Red, and Marine Blue.
