Race fans are in for a real treat this weekend as the Malaysia Speed Festival hosts Round 3 of the MSF Superturismo and Round 2 of the MSF Superbikes at the North Track of the Petronas Sepang International Circuit this Sunday, July 21, 2024.

The day kicks off with superbike races dominating the morning, featuring six individual classes. The afternoon session will see over 200 drivers competing in ten individual car racing classes.

Spectators can purchase paddock access tickets at the North Track entrance, granting them the opportunity to see race machines and motorcycles up close. Additionally, there will be a display of cars, aftermarket spare parts, and merchandise available for purchase at the hospitality area.

This round will showcase a diverse range of vehicles across four premier classes: Super Touring, Vision HKS GT86 x BRZ Racing Cup, Super Production, and Rennplatz Standard Production.

  • Super Touring: Mohamed Hafez Kamarudin aims for his third consecutive win in a Toyota GR Yaris. He faces strong competition from Indonesian driver Umar Abdullah in a Honda Civic FD2R and other notable contenders like Jonathan Lee Jiahui in a Honda Integra DC5, and the duo of Wu Junyi Ken and Russell Tan in another Honda Civic FD2R.
  • Vision HKS GT86 x BRZ Racing Cup: Rennplatz Racing’s Ng Teck Ming, with two wins to his credit, looks formidable. He finished Round 2 with a 50-second lead over Syed Rizal and Fahrizal Hasan from Fawster SMRT, with Muhd Khairul Nizam Yaacob in third place.
  • Super Production: Boy Soh, after a surprising win in Round 2 with his Perodua Myvi, returns to the grid. Other drivers to watch include Roni Risman and Thang Jiun Sheng in Proton Satria Neos, Jonathan Xie in a Honda Fit RS GK5, Teo Hong Zhou in a Honda Jazz GK5, and Nurul Husna Nasharuddin in a Honda Jazz.
  • Rennplatz Standard Production: This class sees a tight race between Hayden Haikal and Aiman Asyraaf in their Honda Fit GK5 RS, and Ng Chong Chin in a Honda Jazz GK5. Other competitors include Mohamed Hafez Kamarudin and Stewart Hine in a Suzuki Swift Sport.

The superbike races will use the 2.706km North Track layout for the first time, featuring six technical corners, two sweeping corners, and a long straight.

  • Super Rookie: Carmen Lee, despite starting at the back of the grid, finished third in Round 1 on her BMW S1000RR.
  • GP Master: Mohd Fatin Raziman, the 2023 GP Pro champion on a Kawasaki ZX-10R, aims for a second consecutive win. Contenders include Mohd Fadli Jamaludin on an Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory and Heng Si Kiat on a Yamaha R1M.
  • GP Pro: Shahrul Harith on a Suzuki GSX-R1000 aims to extend his winning streak. His main competitors are Santhiran Nagaraju and Irsyad Bakri on Yamaha R1s, Chia Zhen Xian on a BMW S1000RR, and Mohdf Azlly Shaari on a Ducati Panigale V4B.

Paddock access tickets are priced at RM35, with parking at RM10, available at the entrance to the North track on race day. Entry to the main grandstand is free of charge.
