The Porsche Panamera has revolutionized the luxury saloon segment by blending smooth driving comfort with the dynamic qualities of a Porsche sports car. Now, the lineup has been enhanced with two new high-performance variants: the Panamera GTS and the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. Each model offers a distinct driving experience, catering to different preferences.
The Panamera GTS stands out as a dynamic sports saloon, emphasizing an emotional driving experience. On the other hand, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, positioned at the pinnacle of the series, is the most powerful, fastest, and luxurious model. This top-tier variant now holds the record as the fastest combustion engine car and hybrid luxury saloon on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
Both models are powered by the refined 4.0-litre biturbo V8 engine, previously seen in the Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid. This engine meets the stringent Euro 7 emission standards, thanks to a switch from a twin-scroll to a single-scroll turbocharger, enhancing the warm-up phase of its catalytic converters. This results in cleaner combustion and improved efficiency, particularly in dynamic driving conditions. The 8-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK) has also been redesigned to handle the immense torque of the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid.
Traditionally, the Turbo designation signifies peak performance and technological leadership within Porsche’s lineup. The new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid embodies this ethos, combining a highly efficient combustion engine with an electric powertrain for exceptional performance. With a system output of 575 kW (782 PS) and 1,000 Nm of torque, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 325 km/h.
Efficiency is also a hallmark of the new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. Its hybrid powertrain offers an increased electric range, faster charging, and more responsive performance. The high voltage battery, with a capacity of 25.9 kWh, provides an electric range of up to 88 km (WLTP EAER City). The 11 kW on-board AC charger can fully recharge the battery in approximately 2 hours and 39 minutes.
Design-wise, the Turbo models feature distinctive styling elements, including a unique rear bumper, chrome-plated tailpipes, and exclusive Turbonite color accents. The interior boasts luxurious materials and advanced technologies, such as the Porsche Active Ride suspension and a comprehensive range of driving dynamics control systems.
Setting a new benchmark, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid recorded a lap time of 7:24.172 minutes on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, beating the previous record by 3.62 seconds. Equipped with a racing seat and safety cage, this record-breaking model showcased the potential of the new Carbon Aerokit and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
Meanwhile, the Panamera GTS focuses on delivering maximum driving pleasure and everyday usability. Its upgraded V8 biturbo engine produces 368 kW (500 PS), enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 302 km/h. The GTS model features a sport-tuned chassis, distinctive design elements, and a Race-Tex interior with high-quality finishes.
Both models benefit from the third generation Panamera’s advanced features, including the Porsche Driver Experience control concept, HD matrix LED lights, extended connectivity functions, and the option of remote parking via a smartphone app.
The new Panamera variants exemplify Porsche’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of performance, luxury, and technological innovation in the luxury saloon segment.
