Porsche has significantly broadened its all-electric SUV lineup by introducing the Macan 4S, a model designed to bridge the gap between the Macan 4 and the Macan Turbo. This expansion doubles the variety within Porsche’s first all-electric SUV range. The rear-wheel-drive Macan 4 focused on high efficiency and range, but the new Macan 4S brings additional performance capabilities.
Equipped with the advanced Porsche Traction Management (ePTM) system, the Macan 4S distributes drive power between the front and rear axles five times faster than conventional all-wheel-drive systems. This ensures optimal handling and performance.
The entry-level Macan uses a high-voltage battery with a gross energy content of 100 kWh, powering a rear-axle motor. This motor, shared with the Macan 4, features a 210 mm diameter and a 200 mm active length, delivering an output of 250 kW (340 PS). Using a 480-amp pulse inverter with silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductor material, the system achieves higher efficiency by reducing switching losses and enabling higher switching frequencies. With Launch Control, the Macan can produce up to 265 kW (360 PS) and a maximum torque of 563 Nm, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 220 km/h. The absence of all-wheel drive makes the Macan 110 kg lighter than the Macan 4, contributing to a combined WLTP range of up to 641 km.
The Macan 4S boasts a new rear-axle motor and a powerful 600-amp SiC pulse inverter. The motor has a 230 mm diameter and a 150 mm active length, combined with a front-axle motor from the Macan 4 and Turbo models. This setup results in a system output of 330 kW (448 PS), with a short overboost power of up to 380 kW (516 PS). With Launch Control, it achieves a maximum torque of 820 Nm, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and reaching a top speed of 240 km/h. The Macan 4S offers a combined WLTP range of up to 606 km and comes standard with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). Optional features include adaptive air suspension, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), and rear-axle steering, enhancing both performance and comfort.
Both new models retain the timeless design and optimized aerodynamics (cw = 0.25) of the second-generation Macan. The 800-volt architecture of the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) allows for a DC charging capacity of up to 270 kW, enabling the high-voltage battery to charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 21 minutes at a fast-charging station.
Porsche has introduced a new exterior color, Slate Grey Neo, for all Macan models, along with a 20-inch Macan S wheel and an optional off-road design package. This package enhances the Macan’s ability to tackle rough terrain and steep inclines, increasing the approach angle to 17.4 degrees with the air suspension in a raised position. The package is available in Vesuvius Grey or the car’s exterior color, with matching 21-inch off-road design wheels and optional painted side blades and roof railings.
Inside, the Macan features the new Porsche Driver Experience, combining digital and analog elements. The instrument cluster includes a 12.6-inch curved display, a 10.9-inch passenger display, and ambient lighting with a communication light. The Macan Turbo also offers a head-up display with augmented reality as standard. Porsche has updated the screen designs across all Macan models, featuring a welcoming animation, a state-of-the-art look, and the new Themes app for customizable display backgrounds and ambient lighting.
For the Malaysian market, standard features include Power Steering Plus, an electrically-opening charging cover, four-zone climate control, a 230V power outlet in the luggage compartment, and a premium BOSE® Surround Sound System.
The new Macan models are available for order in Malaysia, and the price for the Macan is estimated at RM 430,000, the Macan 4 is estimated at RM 445,000, the Macan 4S is estimated at RM 525,000, and the Macan Turbo is estimated at RM 635,000.
The new Macan models are expected to arrive by the end of 2024. For more information and booking, please contact your nearest Porsche Centre.
