To mark the 50th anniversary of Tignanello, one of the most iconic red wines that was ahead of its time, Maserati has created a custom Fuoriserie version of its latest masterpiece, the GranCabrio Folgore. This bespoke vehicle, crafted exclusively for Marchesi Antinori, will be auctioned on July 14 at Festival Napa Valley’s Arts for All Gala, a premier arts charity event in the United States.

In celebration of Maserati’s 110th anniversary, the Modena-based automaker has partnered with Marchesi Antinori, a winery with over 600 years of family heritage and 26 generations of winemaking excellence. This collaboration unites two of Italy’s most distinguished symbols, blending Maserati’s pioneering spirit with Antinori’s storied tradition and innovative approach.

The GranCabrio Folgore draws inspiration from the vineyard, symbolizing deep roots and a rich heritage. The collaboration pays homage to both the cellar, where the magic of winemaking occurs, and the iconic Tignanello label, unchanged for fifty years, much like Maserati’s most iconic creations.

Maserati meticulously researched the unique history of Tignanello to create a car that embodies the essence and values of Marchesi Antinori. The GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello features custom colors, innovative materials, and refined artisan details, making it a moving tribute to the prestigious vineyard and the 50-year legacy of this celebrated wine.

The exterior of the GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello showcases a custom body color, Terra di Tignanello, inspired by the vineyard’s chestnut-colored soil and the coppery burgundy hues of Tignanello’s barrels. The car’s rims and calipers are finished in matte and gloss black, while the emblems are in copper, with the Maserati logo in glossy copper on a gloss background. The soft top is black, adding to the car’s elegance.

Inside, the vehicle features romantic details that highlight Tignanello’s legacy and the shared heritage of both brands. The seats are upholstered in leather with a multi-material silver and burgundy ribbed weave, made of Vegea, an innovative fabric derived from vineyards. This fabric mimics the texture of leather and is used for the first time in a Maserati. Dark briar wood with laser-etched details, reminiscent of the oak barrels used for aging wine, adorns the panels. The headrests feature embroidered Maserati Trident and Tignanello sun symbols, and the central tunnel is laser-etched with the dates 1971-2021, marking Tignanello’s 50th anniversary.

The GranCabrio Folgore is Maserati’s latest innovation, being the first 100% electric luxury convertible and the fastest in its class. It combines performance, comfort, style, and elegance, featuring an 800V battery system developed with advanced Formula E technology.

This model offers four true seats, thanks to its soft top, and includes innovative features like a neck warmer for colder weather and a wind stopper to reduce turbulence inside the cabin.

Tignanello was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques and among the first red wines from Chianti Classico to exclude white grapes. This milestone wine, crafted from a careful selection of Sangiovese and Cabernet, epitomizes the Antinori family’s motto, “Te Duce Proficio” (“Following your guide I flourish”). The Tignanello vineyard, located in the heart of Chianti Classico, covers 57 hectares with south-west exposure, producing exceptional wine.
