For its 12th edition, Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) is partnering with Suria KLCC and KLCC (Holdings) Sdn Bhd to host an exhilarating week of homegrown fashion. Over 50 designers and brands will unveil their ready-to-wear collections against the backdrop of the iconic PETRONAS Twin Towers in a custom-built structure from 29th July to 4th August 2024.

Spanning the Esplanade at KLCC Park, the new show space will be a reimagined icon for KLFW. With a total build-up area of 12,000 square feet, the single-storey layout includes the main show hall, runways, various activation spaces, and can host up to 500 guests per show. Although the show space is exclusive to invited guests, the impressive monochrome structure will feature a large LED screen panel to livestream the KLFW 2024 runway, opening the event to the public for the first time.

KLFW 2024 aims to push fashion forward with renewed diversity in style, presenting contemporary designs that expand fashion horizons, bold deconstructed pieces that challenge traditional norms, sophisticated streetwear, and hybrid designs that blend comfort with high fashion.

Debuting at KLFW 2024 are ready-to-wear labels Akudesign, Corak, Ghostboy, LARNEY, SHALS, and Tact, all of which have gained popularity among digitally savvy fashion enthusiasts. Fuzana Mokhtaza, known for bespoke creations, will also make her first appearance, sharing the runway with local fashion powerhouses Rizman Ruzaini, Fiziwoo, Nurita Harith, and Alia Bastamam.

In a celebration of both modern fashion and traditional techniques, KLFW 2024 will highlight the craft of batik in a new show segment titled “Fashion Forward Batik Malaysia,” featuring the Kelantan-based batik brand Ruzzgahara. The “Design To Sustain” segment, inspired by the newly launched PEUGEOT 408, will showcase creations from the fifteen finalists of the KLFW Designer Search 2024. These budding designers follow in the footsteps of Uzair Shoid, a KL10 Designer Search 2022 winner who presented a full collection last year and will return with his eponymous label at KLFW 2024.

Post-KLFW 2024, Fashion Connect.24 and the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Awards (KLFA) will continue to support and celebrate the homegrown fashion industry. Fashion Connect.24 is a comprehensive networking and educational event aimed at fostering a sustainable and forward-thinking fashion ecosystem. The full-day event features stimulating discussions and experiences with designers, industry insiders, and cultural figures. Previous notable panellists include fashion designers Kit Woo, Nurita Harith, and Rizman Nordin, along with major players from MIDA, AmBank Group, Zalora, and Capital A.

Honouring the nation’s celebrated designers and industry figures, the KLFA awarded a total of 14 accolades in its 2023 edition, including Brand of the Year, Outstanding Achievement, and Fashion Icon of the Year. The star-studded awards ceremony paid tribute to the resilience and innovation of Malaysian designers and style makers.
