If you’re a fan of street culture, you won’t want to miss the Art of Speed, currently ongoing at MAEPS. This year’s event showcases custom motorbikes, modified cars, street fashion, and much more. According to Wikipedia, street culture is defined by the presence of a large population in a limited space following social norms. This proximity allows for many subcultures to coexist and influence each other without intruding on private spaces. Ultimately, urban culture offers diverse perspectives and more resources in the medical field, both physically and mentally, but it also faces challenges in maintaining social cohesion.
In Hall A, you can explore new bike stands, the Hot Wheels stand, the Nanostix stand, custom bikes, and modified cars. Some highlights in this hall include the official Hot Wheels stand, where guests can purchase Hot Wheels products. As a car enthusiast, I found the modified cars particularly worth checking out. Another must-see is the custom bikes, showcasing the creativity of Malaysians brought to life. Additionally, there is a concert stage where local bands will perform for the SoundCircus.
In Hall C, you’ll find most of the hobby-related exhibits. One-third of the hall is dedicated to Hot Wheels collectors and resellers. Named the Hot Wheels Collectors Convention Malaysia (HWCCM), this area allows visitors to see or buy discontinued or limited Hot Wheels. Nearly 50 different collectors display and sell their prized possessions. You can also see a real-life version of a Hot Wheels vehicle limited to just 1,000 pieces.
For camping enthusiasts, there is the Off the Grid expo, where visitors can see different camping setups put up by exhibitors and gather inspiration for their own future camps. If you’re into remote control vehicles, there is a display of various remote control 4x4s, along with a mock off-road pit to test them.
In Hall D, streetwear is available for sale, helping visitors get into the spirit of the Art of Speed festival. There are also vintage items to browse. Another stage in this hall offers more relaxed music compared to the main stage in Hall A. Visitors can enjoy different genres of music throughout the event.
Outdoors, there are multiple F&B pop-up stalls offering delicious food and drinks. If you’re passionate about motorbikes, the Thunder Circus gathers custom bikes not displayed inside the halls. For MINI enthusiasts, the Art of Speed is also hosting a gathering to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Malaysia MINI Meeting.
