UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT) celebrated the successful third edition of the Toyota START YOUR IMPOSSIBLE Outrun at Dataran Merdeka. This year’s event, part of Toyota’s global Start Your Impossible (SYI) campaign, attracted over 6,000 participants and raised RM200,000 for the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM). The impressive turnout highlights the growing enthusiasm and support for this charitable initiative, which aligns with Toyota’s mission of Mobility for All.
The Toyota START YOUR IMPOSSIBLE campaign was initiated to mark Toyota’s transition to a mobility company and to celebrate its partnership with the International Olympic and Paralympic Committees. This partnership aims to foster an inclusive and innovative mobility culture. UMWT’s annual Toyota Outrun reflects its dedication to social responsibility and its efforts to enhance its youthful brand image and leadership in innovative mobility solutions.
Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMWT, stated, “The Toyota START YOUR IMPOSSIBLE Outrun exemplifies our commitment to Move Your World. Besides promoting physical activity, it fosters social responsibility and empowers individuals to use mobility for positive change. This event inspires participants to challenge their limits and support a meaningful cause.”
The Toyota START YOUR IMPOSSIBLE Outrun 2024 was not just about numbers and funds; it also ignited personal triumphs and camaraderie. Participants from various backgrounds, including over 200 international runners, came together to share stories of resilience and collective determination in the fight against cancer. The event concluded at Dataran Merdeka, leaving a lasting impression of unity and achievement, inspiring future editions to continue pushing boundaries and fostering positive change.
Building on the success of previous years, this year’s event featured various categories, including a 10KM race with a RM50,000 prize pool and a 5KM Fun Run. These categories provided inclusive opportunities for participants of all ages to join the excitement and support a charitable mission. The event offered the largest prize money in its category, attracting competitive and casual runners alike.
The first Toyota Outrun, organized in 2019, featured Malaysian Paralympian Abdul Latif as the ambassador and raised RM151,000 for the Paralympic Council Malaysia. Since then, the event has grown significantly in both participation and funds raised, becoming a cornerstone of Toyota’s commitment to promoting mobility and supporting charitable causes in Malaysia. Looking forward, UMWT plans to expand the event to include both half marathon and full marathon categories, aiming to establish it as a major running event in the country.
