Porsche Malaysia recently introduced the new Porsche Taycan at the Porsche World Road Show (PWRS). The revamped Taycan models are now available for order in Malaysia, starting from RM 575,000.
The updated Taycan lineup features significant enhancements over previous models. The Taycan sports sedan and the versatile Taycan Cross Turismo now come with an off-road package. The Taycan sedans offer four powertrain options, while the Cross Turismo comes with three, including rear-wheel drive for the Taycan and all-wheel drive for other variants.
Performance improvements are a key highlight, with all updated Taycan models accelerating faster than their predecessors. For instance, the Taycan and Taycan Turbo S sport sedans can reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 4.8 and 2.4 seconds, respectively, making them 0.6 and 0.4 seconds quicker than before.
The new push-to-pass function in the Sport Chrono package provides a boost of up to 70 kW for 10 seconds at the touch of a button. Increased system output is a major factor in the enhanced acceleration. The base Taycan 4S now delivers 60 kW more, while the Taycan Turbo S gains an additional 70 kW, raising its system output to 700 kW/952 PS.
The WLTP range has also increased significantly, reaching up to 678 km, a 35 percent improvement. The updated Taycan requires fewer charging stops and charges faster, with up to 320 kW at 800-volt DC charging stations. The fast-charging window has been expanded, allowing sustained high charging capacities for longer periods, even at low temperatures.
The charging time from 10 to 80 percent SOC has been halved compared to the previous model. The new Performance Battery Plus, with a gross capacity of 105 kWh, contributes to these improvements.
Porsche Malaysia offers Taycan owners exclusive complimentary platinum membership with Shell Recharge, providing special charging rates and benefits. Members can charge their EVs at speeds up to 360 kW at a discounted rate, with complimentary 350 kW charging facilities available at all Porsche Centres.
The all-electric Taycan comes with a four-year warranty and a comprehensive four-year maintenance plan, with the battery covered under an eight-year warranty. All updated Taycan models feature adaptive air suspension as standard, and the new Porsche Active Ride suspension can be ordered for all-wheel drive versions, enhancing both driving comfort and dynamics.
Several advanced technologies contribute to the improved performance and efficiency, including a new rear-axle motor, an optimized pulse inverter, more powerful batteries, revised thermal management, a next-generation heat pump, and an enhanced recuperation and all-wheel-drive strategy. The maximum recuperation capacity during deceleration has increased by over 30 percent, reaching up to 400 kW.
The updated Taycan models are lighter, with up to 15 kilograms less weight, and come with more extensive standard equipment. Features now include ambient lighting, ParkAssist with a reversing camera, heated front seats, Porsche Intelligent Range Manager (PIRM), a heat pump with a new cooling system, and more.
The Taycan’s design has been refined with new front and rear styling, new headlights, and tail lights. The Taycan Turbo and Turbo S models feature distinctive Turbonite accents, while the Turbo GT and Turbo GT with Weissach package offer top-tier performance with up to 760 kW of overboost power and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.2 seconds.
The new Porsche Taycan variants are available for order starting at RM 575,000. For more information and to place an order, visit your nearest Porsche Centre.
