Apart from launching the Taycan, Porsche Malaysia also start accepting pre-orders for the highly anticipated all-electric Macan. This announcement follows an exciting preview at the Porsche World Roadshow 2024, held at the Sepang International Circuit.

Ten years after its initial release, the Porsche Macan is entering its second generation, this time as a fully electric vehicle. The new Macan 4 and Macan Turbo models embody Porsche’s hallmark blend of progressive, timeless design, exceptional performance, extended range, and everyday practicality, making them ideal choices for SUV enthusiasts.

Porsche has equipped the new Macan with the latest generation of permanently-excited PSM electric motors on both the front and rear axles, ensuring optimal efficiency and consistent power output. The Macan 4 generates up to 300 kW (408 PS) with Launch Control, while the Macan Turbo delivers up to 470 kW (639 PS). Torque peaks at 650 Nm and 1,130 Nm, respectively, resulting in impressive driving performance. The Macan 4 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, and the Macan Turbo accomplishes this in just 3.3 seconds, with top speeds of 220 km/h and 260 km/h, respectively.

Energy for these electric motors is supplied by a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery, with up to 95 kWh of usable capacity. The battery is part of Porsche’s newly developed Premium Platform Electric (PPE) with 800-volt architecture, a first for the Macan. DC charging capabilities reach up to 270 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 21 minutes at suitable fast-charging stations. For 400-volt stations, the battery can split into two 400-volt units, facilitating efficient charging up to 135 kW without an additional HV booster. AC charging is possible at household wall boxes with up to 11 kW.

The new Macan models also feature advanced recuperation systems, recovering up to 240 kW of energy while driving. The Integrated Power Box (IPB) enhances efficiency and saves weight and space by combining the on-board AC charger, high-voltage heater, and DC/DC converter into a single compact unit. The Macan 4 boasts a WLTP range of up to 613 km, while the Macan Turbo offers up to 591 km.

The exterior design of the new Macan showcases Porsche’s dynamic and dominant design language. Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche, states, “The new Macan is clearly recognizable by its brand identity as part of the Porsche product family. The classic Porsche proportions have been further developed and optimally adapted to the challenges of an electric vehicle.”

The new Macan stands out with its sleek design, featuring a shallow hood, pronounced wings, and up to 22-inch wheels. The headlights are divided into a flat upper light unit with four-point daytime running lights and a lower main headlight module with optional matrix LED technology. The rear design includes a 3D light strip with the Porsche logo and a muscular stance thanks to strongly pronounced shoulders.

Aerodynamics play a crucial role in the new Macan’s design, with features such as Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA), an adaptive rear spoiler, active cooling flaps, and a streamlined underbody contributing to a drag coefficient of 0.25. These elements enhance both range and power consumption efficiency.

The interior of the new Macan emphasizes a high level of practicality, quality, and spaciousness. Increased luggage capacity, including a ‘frunk’ with 84 liters of space, and up to 1,348 liters with the rear seats folded, makes the Macan a versatile choice. The seating positions have been lowered for both front and rear passengers, enhancing comfort and legroom.

Technological advancements in the new Macan include up to three screens, a 12.6-inch curved instrument cluster, a 10.9-inch central display, and an optional 10.9-inch passenger display. The Porsche Driver Experience now features a head-up display with augmented reality, providing seamless navigation integration.

The Macan retains its sports car feel with precise steering and impressive driving dynamics. All-wheel drive is standard on both models, managed by the electronically controlled Porsche Traction Management (ePTM) system, which operates significantly faster than traditional systems. The Macan Turbo also includes Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) and optional rear-axle steering, enhancing maneuverability and stability.

Since its debut in 2014, over 800,000 Macans have been delivered worldwide. This all-electric successor, produced in a net carbon-neutral manner at the Porsche Plant Leipzig, is set to continue this legacy.
