inDrive, a global mobility and urban services platform operating in 46 countries, has partnered with Flyt, a local car rental company, to provide flexible car rental services for drivers without cars. This collaboration also streamlines the process for acquiring a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) license.
Recognizing a market need for flexible transportation solutions for e-hailers without personal vehicles, inDrive and Flyt have created a centralized PSV provider. This initiative aims to enhance drivers’ compliance with government regulations, particularly the requirement for a PSV license, mandated by the new e-hailing regulations introduced in 2019.
As the key partner in this initiative, Flyt will offer car rental services to new inDrive applicants who need them and will feature inDrive as their preferred e-hailing partner on their platforms. Flyt, established in 2016, began addressing the growing demand for transportation solutions among job seekers reliant on e-hailing for their daily income.
In addition to basic rentals, inDrive applicants can benefit from Flyt’s unique Rent2Own scheme, which allows drivers to own cars without financial commitments through a flexible agreement requiring a minimum of a 3-month rental period. This scheme is particularly advantageous for low to middle-income individuals working in the gig economy, as it provides more employment opportunities for those financially disadvantaged.
Since 2019, Flyt has successfully operated in Penang and Klang Valley. With a commitment to growth and expansion, Flyt plans to extend its operations to Johor Bahru by 2025.
Interested applicants can visit inDrive’s driver registration page at inDrive Driver Registration to sign up for the PSV license. Flyt will facilitate a smooth registration process and provide rental car services to those in need. Applicants will have access to a variety of transportation options, from sedans and MPVs to premium highline models, subject to availability. Rental prices will vary based on the number of rides completed by the driver.
