The 2024 International Automodified (IAM) and Malaysia Motor Expo (MME), held on June 8-9 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, attracted a staggering 60,000 visitors over its two-day span.
Among the highlights was a lucky draw that saw Muhammad Syafiq Nurhakim winning a RM80,000 Honda N-Box. Visitors who either bought a ticket or spent a minimum of RM10 on official IAM-MME 2024 merchandise were eligible for the draw.
Muhammad Syafiq, a Kuala Lumpur native, expressed his surprise at winning: “Being drawn as a winner was truly a surprise to me. I am not even a car fan, I don’t even have a driver’s license and in fact, I had purchased the RM30 entry ticket to attend the show for the sole purpose of watching one of the invited rock bands perform,” he said. “Needless to say I was shocked when I received a phone call at 10.30pm declaring me as the winner.”
The event celebrated 300 of Malaysia’s finest modified cars, awarding the best-tuned vehicles in 100 categories, including the prestigious King of IAM KL title. This year, the honor went to a meticulously modified yellow Daihatsu Copen by Nurr Motors, featuring an NRS body kit, HKS adjustable Hipermax suspension, and Volk Racing wheels.
IAM-MME 2024 also marked the 20th Malaysian Car of the Year Awards (COTY), recognizing the best new vehicles introduced between August 1, 2023, and July 31, 2024. The judging panel, comprising experienced automotive journalists and professionals, evaluated cars based on design, technology, safety, and value for money. The event showcased winning vehicles from COTY 2023 as well.
