WTC Automotif (M) Sdn Bhd (WTCA) expanded its product portfolio by introducing the 2024 GAC AION Y Plus to the Malaysian market. This all-electric crossover was unveiled during the Malaysia Autoshow 2024, organized by the Malaysia Automotive Robotics & IoT Institute (MARii) at MAEPS, Serdang.
The GAC AION Y Plus is available in two variants: ‘Elite’ and ‘Premium’, priced at RM119,800 and RM135,800, respectively. These models cater to the growing demand for premium EV crossovers in Malaysia, offering a blend of style and functionality designed to appeal to discerning buyers. 
In Malaysia, the GAC AION Y Plus can be customized with seven vibrant exterior color options and five interior colorways, providing a total of 35 combinations for customers to personalize their vehicles. The AION Y Plus comes with an 8-year/160,000 KM base vehicle warranty and an 8-year/200,000 KM EV battery, drive motor, and electric control warranty.
WTCA is also offering an exclusive early bird promotion for the first 200 bookings. The first 200 customers who purchase the new AION Y will receive a free 7kW Home Wallbox Charger (worth RM3,500) and RM1,000 in JomCharge Charging Credits. These incentives are supported by a new partnership with EV Connection Sdn Bhd (EVC), Malaysia’s leading EV charging company. EVC, along with its partners Gentari and ChargEV, provides the largest EV charging network in the country. This partnership ensures that GAC AION Y Plus owners will have access to an extensive and reliable charging infrastructure. 
Early adopters can also choose from two specially curated accessory packages, which include the Outdoor Adventure Lifestyle Set and the “Me-Time” Mobile Theatre Set. Customers can expect to start receiving their cars in June 2024, beginning with the Elite variant, while the Premium variant will be available starting in July 2024.
The GAC AION Y Plus combines trendy SUV elements with advanced technology. It comes with Angel Wing LED headlights, Skyline through-type LED taillights, powered stow-away door handles, a panoramic sunroof, and 17-inch alloy wheels (Elite) or 18-inch alloy wheels (Premium). Powered by GAC’s innovative 63.2 kWh Magazine Battery 2.0, the AION Y Plus offers a driving range of up to 490 KM (NEDC). Charging options include 6.6 kW AC (Type 2) and up to 80 kW DC fast-charging (CCS2). The vehicle’s safety is underscored by its robust battery design, which has passed rigorous testing. 
Both variants feature a 150 kW (204 PS) front-mounted e-motor with 225 NM of torque, achieving 0-100 KM/H in 8.5 seconds. The vehicle also offers four selectable driving modes, including an ‘i-Pedal’ single-pedal driving mode. The interior of the AION Y includes a six-way power-adjustable driver seat, 10.25-inch digital instrumentation, keyless entry, automatic climate control with rear vents and a PM2.5 air filter, and a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay. 
The Premium variant includes additional features such as driver seat ventilation, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, wireless smartphone charging, and a 32-color ambient lighting suite. Practicality is enhanced with split-folding rear seats, expanding boot space from 405 to 1,200 liters, and a hands-free powered tailgate in the Premium variant. 
Safety features include six airbags, ABS, Vehicle Dynamics Control, Hill-Hold Control, a 360-degree View Monitor, and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System. The Premium variant also includes Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for Level 2 semi-autonomous driving.
WTCA has established a network of 21 new showrooms and service centers across Malaysia to provide comprehensive after-sales support, with more to be operational within the year.
