Tesla is doubling down on its commitment to hasten the global shift towards sustainable energy by making electric vehicles more accessible in Malaysia. The company has implemented a significant price adjustment on selected trims of its popular Model 3 and Model Y, reducing their prices by RM8,000 each. This move aims to broaden the audience for Tesla’s electric vehicles, with the Model 3 now priced from RM181,000 and the Model Y from RM191,000.
These adjusted prices, effective immediately, make Tesla’s electric vehicles more affordable and within reach for a wider range of consumers. Interested buyers can place orders either at Tesla experience centers or through the official Tesla website. Importantly, Tesla vehicles in Malaysia are eligible for full import and excise duties exemption, as well as 100% road tax exemption. Additionally, purchasers can benefit from income tax relief of up to RM2,500 for expenses related to electric vehicle charging.
Tesla is not only focused on making its vehicles accessible but also on providing a seamless ownership experience. The company offers convenient charging solutions with its “Plug and Charge” technology, simplifying the charging process for users. Through the Tesla App, drivers can easily locate, navigate to, and monitor the status of Superchargers, with payments processed automatically. Charging is cost-efficient too, with a pay-per-use Supercharging fee of RM1.25/kWh.
Currently, Tesla operates 7 Supercharging stations with 36 chargers and 10 Destination Charging stations with 61 chargers in Malaysia. Expansion plans are underway to facilitate travel between Malaysia and Singapore, where Tesla already has 11 Supercharging stations and 9 Destination Charging stations. This commitment underscores Tesla’s dedication to advancing its charging infrastructure to meet the increasing demand for its vehicles across the region.
For those interested in experiencing Tesla’s vehicles firsthand, test drives of the Model 3 and Model Y are available upon appointment. Customers can visit Tesla experience centers or contact the Tesla Malaysia hotline at 1800810655 to schedule a test drive.
