Leading electric vehicle (EV) charging operators Charge+ from Singapore and ChargeSini from Malaysia have recently inked a collaboration agreement aimed at bolstering EV infrastructure and fostering seamless cross-border travel for EV drivers. The agreement allows EV users from both networks to access charging facilities across Singapore, Malaysia, and beyond, marking a significant stride in the region’s EV ecosystem.

Governments in both Singapore and Malaysia have identified the EV sector as pivotal for future growth, implementing supportive policies to spur EV adoption. Recognizing the importance of convenient charging solutions for long-distance travel, the partnership between Charge+ and ChargeSini is poised to enhance the confidence of EV drivers embarking on extensive journeys.

The agreement, announced in Singapore by Charge+ CEO Goh Chee Kiong and ChargeSini’s founder and CEO James Goh, signifies a commitment to advancing sustainable transportation initiatives in Southeast Asia. Charge+ has established itself as a key player in the EV charging landscape, boasting approximately 2,000 charging points across the region, with plans to expand to 30,000 points by 2030.

In alignment with its broader vision, Charge+ is concurrently developing an extensive EV charging highway spanning 5,000km across five Southeast Asian countries. This ambitious initiative, which includes Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam, aims to create the longest EV charging network in the region, facilitating seamless travel for EV drivers.

The collaboration with ChargeSini adds another dimension to Charge+’s efforts, complementing existing roaming partnerships with major players such as Thailand’s Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), Malaysia’s Tenaga Nasional Berhard (TNB), and Indonesia’s Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN). These partnerships collectively contribute to overcoming challenges associated with cross-border EV charging and streamlining the user experience.

ChargeSini, Malaysia’s foremost EV charging solutions provider, boasts a network of 701 operational EV charging bays across 224 hubs strategically located throughout Peninsular and East Malaysia. With 122 DC charging points and 579 AC charging points accessible via their proprietary app, ChargeSini has positioned itself as a reliable facilitator of EV charging services in the country.

Through this collaboration, ChargeSini app users gain access to Charge+’s extensive charging network in Singapore, Thailand, and other Southeast Asian nations, enhancing the accessibility and convenience of EV charging for drivers traversing international borders.

These are accessible through ChargeSini’s proprietary app that is available on both Apple (iOS) and Google (Android) devices. This roaming partnership will grant ChargeSini app users access to the Charge+ EV charging network in Singapore, Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia
