The Chinese team showcased their prowess at the Motul 12 Hours of Sepang, securing both the overall win and the top spot in the GT3 Am class. Building on their victory at the inaugural Shanghai 8 Hours in 2023, they proved their mettle on the Sepang circuit.
Initially dropping down the order, the #44 R&B Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R crew, comprising Yuan Bo, Lu Wei, and Ye Honghi, staged a remarkable comeback. Securing the GT3 Am pole position, they displayed dominance throughout the race, ultimately clinching not only the class victory but also the overall win.
In the GT3 Am category, the #71 Prime Speed Sport Aston Martin Vantage GT3 EVO II, driven by Francois Beziac, Heremana Malmezac, and Jono Lester, claimed the second position, followed closely by the #777 Climax Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II Ruoyu crew.
Continuing Porsche’s success in the GT3 class, the #911 Absolute Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R, piloted by Andrew Haryanto, Eshan Pieris, and Dorian Boccolacci, secured first place, finishing second overall. The #26 B-Quik Absolute Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II and the #31 Phantom Global Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II secured the second and third positions in GT3, respectively.
Meanwhile, in the GTC class, the #7 Vortex Racegraph Lamborghini Super Trofeo EVO2 impressed with a strong start, while the #710 D1 Racing Team Lamborghini Super Trofeo EVO2 fought back to claim the class victory.
In the TCR Endurance Asia category, the #326 326 Racing Team Audi RS3 LMS TCR dominated the race, securing a lights-to-flag victory.
The Motul 12 Hours of Sepang once again highlighted the diverse field of teams from the Asia Pacific region, showcasing a mix of professional racers, gentleman drivers, and emerging talents.
Looking ahead, the next endurance race for Top Speed will return to the Shanghai International Circuit for the highly anticipated second Shanghai 8 Hours event on 4-6 October.
