In partnership with the Malaysia Motorcycle Scooter Dealers’ Association (MMSDA), Hong Leong Yamaha Motor Sdn Bhd (HLYM) is excited to unveil the evolution of its annual road safety campaign. Formerly known as the Balik Kampung Road Safety Campaign, which celebrated its 25th silver jubilee last year, this year’s initiative is rebranded as Fiesta Ride Smart, Ride Selamat. The aim is to promote safer motorcycle-riding practices among female riders, coinciding with International Women’s Day. This transformation underscores HLYM’s dedication to fostering a community-centric approach to road safety, aligning with modern lifestyles and societal demands.
The launch event, held at Stadium Bola Sepak Kuala Lumpur in Cheras, witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries including the Member of Parliament for Bandar Tun Razak, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Binti Wan Ismail, the Chairman of MMSDA, Datuk Wee Hong, and Group Managing Director of Hong Leong Industries Berhad (HLI) Professor Dato’ Dr. Jim Khor Mun Wei. Female customers from Yamaha also participated in the event
This year’s celebration of International Women’s Day by HLYM introduces a groundbreaking initiative that merges women’s empowerment with safe riding practices to honor its female riders. A significant highlight is the attempt to break the Malaysian Book of Record (MBOR) for the largest gathering of female riders, in collaboration with the Dewi Yamaha Malaysia Club. This effort underscores the company’s steadfast commitment to supporting women across various spheres of life. By inclusively bringing together single mothers, representatives from social enterprises, and women entrepreneurs, the event serves as a platform for networking, sharing experiences, and fostering empowerment.
Attendees can anticipate engaging activities such as the Dewi Smart Ride Challenge, PW 50 Ride, Treasure Hunt, and more, with the opportunity to win exciting prizes including 2 units of Motorcycle. Complimentary bike inspections for all motorcycle brands will be available to ensure safety ahead of festive travel. Moreover, riders will receive complimentary safety jackets sponsored by P&O and can participate in an exchange helmet program facilitated by booths hosted by Aeon Credit Service (M) Berhad and KHI.
Beyond the event, HLYM’s commitment to safety and educational initiatives endures. From April 1st to April 7th, selected Yamaha dealers will offer free bike inspection services to ensure riders’ vehicles are roadworthy.
