Proton Tanjong Malim (PONSB TM) recently played host to the esteemed Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Malaysia, His Excellency Karomidin Gadoev, who was accompanied by representatives from the embassy. The primary objective of the visit was to delve into potential avenues for collaboration in the times ahead.

At the Proton Tanjong Malim facility, the Uzbek delegation was warmly received by Roslan Abdullah, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Proton, and Tengku Zainudin Tengku Jafar, Head of Regulatory Management at DRB-HICOM, along with other high-ranking members of Proton’s senior management.

Expressing his thoughts after the visit, Ambassador Gadoev stated, “Malaysia has been a long-term and reliable friend of Uzbekistan, with centuries-old trade and cultural ties, friendship, and spiritual closeness binding our nations. In recent years, the bilateral economic relations between Uzbekistan and Malaysia have been steadily advancing.”

He went on to highlight the current success of 36 Malaysian companies operating in Uzbekistan, with ongoing negotiations for joint investment projects with Malaysian industry players. The ambassador emphasized the significant untapped potential in bilateral economic relations between Uzbekistan and Malaysia, foreseeing positive developments on the horizon.

During a meeting with Mr. Roslan Abdullah, DCEO of Proton, discussions revolved around the prospects of collaboration in the automotive industry. Ambassador Gadoev expressed optimism, stating, “We hope this cooperation will benefit both countries.”

Roslan Abdullah echoed this sentiment, stating, “Proton is consistently seeking partners to broaden our international footprint, as being an international OEM is one of our brand pillars. We are grateful for the visit from the Ambassador of Uzbekistan and his delegation, and we anticipate positive developments to emerge from this interaction in the future.”
