NexV Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (NMSB) is embarking on the construction of Malaysia’s inaugural green technology facility dedicated to manufacturing and assembling New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), including electric vehicles (EVs). The facility aims to commence operations in the first quarter of 2025, generating new job opportunities and investments in the Negeri Sembilan region.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the plant, situated in the Chembong Industrial Area, Rembau, Negeri Sembilan, was officiated by the Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar, YAB Dato’ Seri Haji Aminuddin bin Harun, today.

The plant is slated to have an annual capacity of 30,000 vehicles, with one-third dedicated to the assembly of NETA models through the joint venture between Careplus and Intro Synergy Sdn Bhd (a GoAuto subsidiary). In addition to NETA vehicles, the facility will be open to other NEV brands interested in conducting Completely Knocked Down (CKD) assembly for passenger and commercial EVs or electric motorcycles.

The project’s first phase will focus on developing an assembly plant, set to commence in the first quarter of 2024. Subsequent phases, scheduled for 2026 and 2028, will expand the production capacity to 50,000 units per year. The total investment for the plant’s development is approximately Ringgit Malaysia Six Hundred Million (RM600,000,000).

The initial phase is anticipated to create over 600 skilled and semi-skilled jobs, specializing in EV manufacturing, with a focus on smart manufacturing technologies such as automation, system integration, robotics, cloud-based plant management, and industrial IoT. Recruitment and training of the plant’s workforce are scheduled to commence as early as August 2024, ahead of the planned start of operations in early 2025.

In tandem with producing green vehicles, the plant will implement eco-friendly solutions, including technologies to achieve zero wastewater discharge and noise pollution. Solid waste will be processed through on-site recycling centers, and a significant portion of the factory’s energy needs will be met through solar panels installed on the plant’s roof.

Collaborating with Intro Synergy Sdn Bhd, the sole distributor for NETA brand, the HIGER and YUTONG brands (distributed by GVT Sdn. Bhd., a joint venture between W&R Resources Sdn Bhd and Careplus Group Berhad) will also work with NMSB to assemble all locally produced models under these brands.

At the same event, Intro Synergy and Hozon New Energy Automobile Co. Ltd. (the principal company producing NETA) exchanged a CKD agreement, marking collaborations for CKD operations in Malaysia. NMSB also exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Qingdao Huayue Guotai New Energy Car Co. Ltd., aiming to explore new opportunities for New Energy Vehicles in Malaysia and ASEAN.

NMSB obtained its interim Manufacturing License from the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) through the Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA) in October 2023. Additionally, NMSB recently received the Development Order (Kebenaran Merancang) from the Rembau District Council to commence construction of the manufacturing plant.
