The Mazda CX-5 has been due for an update for quite a while, and in 2024, Malaysians finally have the chance to purchase the updated CX-5. The new CX-5 will come in 5 different variants, with prices starting from RM 144,469.20 and going up to RM 188,760.40. The latest CX-5 will feature new styling, technologies, and features aimed at improving driving performance, comfort, and safety.

As for the updated CX-5 powertrain, it has been carried forward from the pre-facelift model. The CX-5 variants start with the 2.0L engine. These two variants are split into the Mid and High variants. Moving up the range, there will be the 2.5L High variant, which sits in the middle of the pack. At the top end, there will be the 2.2D High and the 2.5T High. All variants are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, but the 2.5T comes with all-wheel drive, while the other variants are only front-wheel drive.

Concerning the exterior, the updated CX-5 comes with new distinctive headlights and taillights to differentiate it from the pre-facelift model. Apart from that, the updated SUV comes with a redesigned front grille, front bumper, and the signature wing around the grille. Additionally, the 17-inch and 19-inch alloy wheels have also been updated with new styling.

On this updated CX-5, Mazda has improved the body, suspension, and seats to make the vehicle more refined. The vehicle body is more rigid than before, the suspension springs and dampers have been retuned to provide better ride comfort and driving quality. As for the seats, Mazda has redesigned them to provide drivers with a more natural driving experience and ride comfort.

Inside the CX-5, it comes with updated technology to bring better driving comfort and connectivity improvements. These updates are standard across all variants, including Autofold outer rearview mirrors, Qi Wireless Charger, 8-inch Infotainment display, and LED interior lighting. The infotainment screen will now feature Wireless Apple Carplay.

Breaking down by variants, the 2.0L Mid variant gets updated with Mazda’s Advanced Keyless Entry, while the CX-5 2.0L High variants and above now come equipped with Paddle Shifters and new design LED Signature headlamps, revealing a more significant signature light in a perfect circle. The CX-5 2.5L variant and above also receive newly added front driver and passenger ventilation seats for added seating comfort. For the 2.5T AWD variant, it even features Mi-Drive that offers three driving modes: Normal, Sport, and Off-Road.

Safety-wise, the CX-5 High variants and above come with the new addition of i-Activsense Advanced Driver Assist Safety features, which include Smart Brake Support (SBS), Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC, with Stop & Go), and Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS).

The new Mazda CX-5 will be assembled locally, and it will come in Jet Black, Snowflake White Pearl, Machine Gray, Deep Crystal Blue, Soul Red Crystal, and newly added colors Polymetal Gray and Platinum Quartz, making a total of 7 colors available. The CX-5 will come with a 5-year Manufacturer Warranty + 5-Years Free Maintenance (except Mazda BT-50) according to the Manufacturer’s standards, including labor, parts, and lubricants. Both the Manufacturer’s warranty and Free Maintenance have a coverage period of five years and a mileage limit of 100,000 km, whichever comes first.
